Food Ok but BAAAAAD service!!! Cries Jul 10, 2010

After the renovations, it's much more comfortable. They have some booths and the tables are bigger.

Food is okay, not quite 100% authentic Vietnamese as most of the dishes are too sweet. But probably appropriate for HKers tastes.

I was very disappointed with the service. My husband has blacklisted this restaurant even though Vietnamese restaurants are rare in HK. The waitress was quite rude. huffy

We had:

1x beef noodle - okay
1x pork rice - too oily
1x chicken salad - too small

I probably wouldn't recommend this restaurant, nor will we return. sad

I probably won't returnhuffy. In fact, I was left with a stomach ache and cramps for most of the night because the food was just too oily.

The restaurant is very small and narrow accommodating only 6 tables of 4. The waitress cramped everyone in the same area so that it would be easier for her to serve.

The tables next to us were so close and loud, our table could barely carry a conversation.

The presentation of the food was ok, but looked far better than it tasted. All the dishes lacked flavour and were way too oily.

We ordered 2x lunch sets roughly $78.00 each, it came with:

Cream of Pumpkin soup - cold + runny
Salad - one cherry tomato and 1 lettuce leaf - is that still considered a salad?
Pan-fried Seabass - cold + too oily
Duck Breast Risotto - cold + too oily
Mango mousse topped with blueberry foam - it looked like soap and was warm!
Skim Milk Latte - cold + bitter
Hoegaarden - flat - probably the best thing on the menu
Big plates - small portions

Service was polite, but clearly inexperienced. Nobody in the restaurant spoke English, although the establishment serves western cuisine.

The bartender was constantly looking over the waitresses shoulder and walking around the restaurant like he was the boss. Very uncomfortable environment. I just couldn't wait to leave. Not once did we receive service with a smile.

I think I'll stick to Central or Causeway Bay for my Saturday high tea from now on.

Brunch Just OK Apr 06, 2010

We were walking around Soho looking for a new place for Brunch and found an unlikely breakfast venue at Bourbon. Formerly a Wildfire outlet, I was checking out the menu when the Manager (Jay) came out to say hello.

His cheerful and friendly attitude, the chill atmostphere and the all you can drink Long Island Iced Tea won us over that day. tongue

I can't remember the exact names of the dishes but we had something along the lines of:

1x Ground beef with scrambled egg - slightly bland, but an interesting combo if there was more flavour.

1x Joe's something - 3 mini pancakes, scrambled eggs and a sausage.

1x blackberry cobbler - too many seeds, but not all bad.

The service and atmosphere surpassed the food, but I would go back to try the ribs one day. They say it's their specialty.

But for a nice chill afternoon with good service with a smile, check it out.
