Good Sticks, Bad Service Just OK Jan 11, 2010

This place is serves up some of the best tasting Yakitori in HK. The sticks of meat are expertly prepared in the small open kitchen and the chefs look really professional (I was sitting at the bar counter).

Service is very average here for the price you pay. The male waitstaff serves customers as if we're in a local noodle shop. No manners, attitude was bad, and doesn't seem to want to work there.

Female staff was better especially the middle-aged lady...probably the manager.

I ordered the prawns, chicken giblets, chicken mince with soft bone, beef, tofu, lamb chops. All were excellent and came out so hot. The tofu was a little bland though.

I want to come here again but for the price I paid, the service was definitely not up to standard.

Don't take big groups because the place is tiny!!! I also found out that if you come after 11:00pm, the sticks are at half price! That's better value.

Delicious Hot Dogs Smile Jan 11, 2010

Went to Grouchos for New Years Day 2010 and thoroughly enjoyed the "Gourmet" Hot Dogs there. The staff told me the hot dog and hamburger buns were made fresh everyday and they sure did taste soft and fresh.

I ordered the Belgian Dog and it came with Sauerkraut, Parmesan Cheese and very very gourmet Dijon Seeded Mustard...the one you get at fancy schmancy restaurants. Best hot dog i had ever! Sausage was a bratwurst and was juicy, fat, and yummy yum yum.

I drank two Hoegaarden Grand Crus which is apparently the top of the line Hoegaarden beer. I've drank the original Hoegaarden many times before, but this one smelled of oranges and the colour was vibrant and orange too. Going to have to buy some here in HK but the staff wouldn't tell me where (but service was terrific anyways). Decided not to drive home and let my friend drive as the beer was 8% and I had two.

My friend ordered a Berry Ice Cream Sundae and the sundae glass it came with was very original. You have to see it for yourself. I thought she was a bit mad to eat ice cream in the cold weather but the sauce was very hot, and the ice cream was of very high quality. Heartwarming for sure! The fruits and muesli inside were a terrific combo when I tried it a spoonful.

I hope I can visit this place again soon but Stanley is always a once-a-quarter type of place to visit.
