Korean BBQ Smile Aug 17, 2011

So my friends and I have never been here before and wanted to try out something new. We made a reservation 2 days in advance so there was no waiting time. My friends were on time and I of course was running late AGAIN so when I got there at ten past seven I had to wait an additional 15 mins for the lift. As this restaurant is on the 6th floor, there are a tonne of people waiting to go for dinner.

We were seated in a very comfortable booth with a lot of privacy, there was a high partition so we couldn't even see the table next to us and the tables behind and in front couldn't hear us talking. Bonus points smile

As I was late, the girls ordered and were eating already, as you can see from the pics lol The appetizers were about 8 dishes of Korean snacks like kimichi, marinated potatoes, assorted veggies, etc.

It was just 3 girls so we ordered 2 x marinated beef short rib meat, 1 x spicy cuttlefish, 1 x marinated pork bone, beef bone soup and stone pot rice and we were super full.

The beef short ribs were very tasty, good marinate and very tender. The pork bone was good as well, but they cut the meat a bit thick. For me, the was the stone pot rice, it was very good because the rice at the bottom was thick and crispy, just the way it should be without being burnt. Good dining experience, they gave us free ice cream at the end of the meal. The only problem was the staff, it seemed like there wasn't enough staff walking around to serve the almost full restaurant.

Oily soup...... Cries Aug 12, 2011

So I decided to opt for a healthy lunch today and decided to try out Dressed since it's been a while. After my lunch, I remember why I don't eat there anymore. The seating is very limited in the restaurant so I had to take away my lunch. There were a lot of people, so I waited around 10 mins for my order.

I got the lunch special ~ salad, soup & drink for $48. I had the cobb salad, chili and lemonade:

The salad was over dressed, the greens were practically swimming in the dressing and there was just too much cheese. The avocados were hard which means they weren't ripe but the best thing of the salad was that everything was chopped up into bite size and didn't have the whole leaf of lettuce or big chunks of chicken.

I ordered the chili, but as you can see from the pic above, that is NOT chili, it's a tomato based soup with beans. Very, very oily and it wasn't even hot. I know you must think because I took the food back to the office it must be lukewarm, but no, it was very tepid, almost cold. My office is a 3 minute walk from Dressed.

The best part of the whole meal was the lemonade, not too sweet and very tangy. Great drink.

All in all, I think they do better salads at Taste across the street. Bigger portions of the salad at least!!!!

On a rainy day....... Smile Aug 10, 2011

It was a such a miserable day at lunch time, pouring cats and dogs outside so we decided to go somewhere close to the office.

As I was soaking wet from outdoors and walking into a air conditioned restaurant and being seated right under the a/c I asked the waitress politely if she could just turn down the a/c fan a little bit as it was going on full blast and was quite cold. She smiled and said no problem, but she turned the a/c off completely!!!!! Hahahaha!!!! It was fine for me and my mate as we were wet and the other a/c's were on full blast in the restaurant.

IMO, this is the best Indian restaurant in Wanchai area. It's very clean and there's not a lot of fancy decor and not too cluttered meaning you have ample space between the tables so you don't feel crowded and feel like the neighbors are listening to your conversation.

The buffet lunch is fantastic, only $88 per head including a soft drink. The buffet (as far as I can remember) had the following:

Yogurt dip
Mint dip
Carrot & cucumber salad
Lettuce & tomato salad
Fruit salad
White rice
Saffron rice
Vegetable Curry
Lamb curry
Chicken Tikka
Vegetable Samosa
Stir fried Chinese broccoli with garlic
Pampadom
Fish

And I'm sure they had a few more dishes, but I can't remember, sorry. There is also some onion naan for your table.

All in all, very tasty and quite nice if you want to sit and chat because it's not too noisy.

Great Booth Just OK Aug 08, 2011

Been to this restaurant so many times I have a VIP card that entitles 15% discount of all food and drink, which is very nice. I reserved the table at lunch so there was no wait time. They seated us at a table for 4 but the tables had been pushed apart about AN INCH so they could seat 2 tables of 2. I wasn't impressed and asked to sit at the sushi bar.

I was still waiting for my friend to arrive so i decided to order a bottle of sake. The hostess kept asking me "Are you sure this is the sake you want?? It's 1.8 litres." I replied her many times "Yes I know", seemed like she didn't want to give it to me. The sake came but it wasn't as cold as I expected.

As I ordered a bottle of sake, I decided to try my luck to see if they would sit us in the private booths for 3 people. I asked and they said someone just paid the bill and had a opening so I moved again. The booths are much more private and comfortable.

Anyway, my friend came and we ordered. Here is the "menu of the month":

We ordered some sashimi: Yellowtail, swordfish, salmon and uni. We ordered some negitoro sushi which was very good except I think it was sitting there too long and the seaweed was limp. We ordered some snack food for the sake like edamame and some grilled puffer fish with some good robata.

The night was more like a snack and drink night other than a real sit down dinner. The reason why it was a little bit pricey was because the sake was $700 so if you cut out the sake, it was a pretty good deal.

Overall, food not bad but the booth was great to sit in because of the privacy.
