I went to have lunch in Olive Cafe with a friend on Monday. It was Day 7 of the menu, we picked the chef's recommendation which was the duck breast and a creamy tomato sauce crab meat & salmon pasta.

Smoked Duck Breast - portion was generous. It had 7-8 pieces of duck breast already sliced. It was a little overcooked but it still tasted excellent. You could get it with rice, pasta or fries and we had it with fries. The fries were a surprise because there were thick wedge fries & was very flavorful. The veggies was also quite good.

Creamy tomato sauce crab meat & salmon pasta - i didn't really taste the crab meat but overall this pasta was awesome. Pasta was al dente and the sauce was creamy but not too heavy.

Both dishes are highly recommended. Service was alright, I think they have some new staff so this waitress working there dropped a spoon on the table but it was just an honest mistake, she just needs more training.

I haven't been to Olive Cafe in over a year or possibly more. I'm not sure whether the owners changed hand but i noticed they've renovated the place. I love the decorations. The only flaw is probably the crowded seats. But it was a very nice lunch and food is the most important. It was nice & quiet so my friend and I were able to catch up.

Overall, i would say it's a gem in Tsuen Wan, and i would recommend it to everyone

This place is an excellent find. It's a small restaurant, the tables are a little crowded but renovation is very nice and staff provides excellent service.

They don't have that many varieties but I heard from the boss (i think the woman is a boss) that they'll introduce more dishes.

I had the following today:
Dan Dan Noodle - my friend says it's quite authentic, it's quite "ma". Flavor is excellent
燃燒麵 - this one is more spicy than Dan Dan noodle. It has some sesame oil in it, tastes & smells excellent
Panna cotta - very different taste, interestingly, very good match
cucumber & pork - a little sweet, my friends love it and thought it was perfect match

The dish sizes are relatively small so maybe you need to order but you get to try different dishes.

the 3 of us, we ended up spending about $70 / person but not too full.

Not impressive at all... Cries Oct 19, 2009

We were a group of 20+ people who went there for a birthday celebration. The interior decoration & service was fine but food was not good.

Choices were also limited.

Scallop with rice noodles - scallop tasted weird, not fresh
lamb chops - tender but wasn't hot enough
bbq pigeon - not tender
sushi - didn't look fresh at all. I wanted tobiko sushi but it was gone after a few minutes and they never served it again
roast beef - i had 2 pieces, 1st piece was good. 2nd piece was way overcooked
thai style pork - it was normal, a bit too fat

dessert was average. Best was probably the chocolate mouse and napoleon cake

It was $298+10% service charge per person, i can get much better quality going to other hotels.

The lady that served us was really nice, explained to us what was famous and what people ordered. There were 5 of us and we ordered the same thing, so 5 雞扒+豬頸肉 & 5 Iced Lemon Ribena.

The chicken was awesome, grilled perfectly, and quite juicy. The food was very hot, you can tell it was freshly grilled. The portion was huge for the chicken and also the pork. Everyone enjoyed their food, some of us couldn't finish our drink which was nice & cold.

Excellent Quality Smile Sep 21, 2009

There wasn't that much to choose from but quality was excellent. I found the seafood very icy, maybe i'm just used to fresh seafood and not those frozen ones. But my friend found the crab legs delicious. My personal favorite is definitely the roast beef, very tender. Dessert was also excellent, everything was good. They were small but that's perfect because you can try more variety.

I also liked the shrimp salad and carbonara fettuccine. I went on a weekday but it was still quite pack but overall, excellent quality for the price i paid. The only disappointment was the snail / escargot, there was sand in it. And I bit quite hard, i thought I cracked my teeth. Glad i didn't.
