As a marketer, i do believe 板長壽司 use a very good marketing skillset and win customer heart whenever we think of eating everyday sushi ( not the IFC high end type )

Ricky – you can see his face everywhere, even in the membership card, no comment of their design, appreciate the charisma he/ they build for thier brand. Amoy brunch, you can even watch a TV program that he went to Japan with Zuki.

Appetizer:

3.6 milk with prawn soup (甜蝦特濃牛乳湯), i personally perfer the softcrab soup. The milk is too strange in taste ( not fresh?), it can’t stir together with the soup and don’t feel any smoothness at all.

Main course/ sushi:

Although KC remind us don’t eat raw salmon, we love the omega3 fish oil so much and order 3 kinds of salmon. 1/ golden salmon; 2/ toro salmon(三文魚腩); 3/ toasted or broiled salmon(火炙三文魚). Toasted one always can keep the standard which is our favorite cooking style, as the heat make the fatty oil melt, like the molten chocolate cake melting in the mouth...mouthwatering !!

Their fried food is used not very brilliant, except tempura, we ordered one dish this time.
Tempura shrimp + curry salt(天婦羅蝦+咖喱鹽). We would like to give some credit to the curry salt, it make the tempura more delicious, we indeed attract by our memory of the salt and reorder it this time ;)

Wagyu beef (佐賀和牛)got many muscle/tender inside, how come? ( recommended to order toro next time, for me, they got very similar texture, should be melting without chewing in the mouth) We ordered medium Toro, very good, well done!

Jumbo Scallop (珍寶帆立貝)sushi. Not good, we can’t recognize what favor it is, just simply tasteness, very plain compared with 峰’s sweet fresh scallop, 北海道活壽司...( yet, still better than 元氣, it’s jumbo, not like元氣’s scrawny scallop)

Fly fish egg(飛魚子手卷) roll – the seaweed skin is a bit too soft...fish egg is cool, very fresh and not too salty. Good job!

Again, NO uni(海膽), Boten Ebi (牡丹蝦) and roasted egg燒玉子 after 8pm, the waiter told us very politely.... ( u know, we like it and so don’t keep disappointing us...please)

Dessert:

甜番薯, very sweet maple honey favor. encore and encore. must-try-item! ( best dessert, as their milk pudding and ice cream are a lot too hard in texture )

General tasting feeling:

Atmophere - ok, people doesn’t talk very loud.
Fairly enough “Welcome and greeting”, very polite!
Green Tea is hot and well served on time.

Hygiene - Good. Very clean table,chair and settings. Very tidy, all plates or decorations are very organized.
Sushi plate are beautiful/ artistic japanese style( not all in plastic one)

Full of sushi frangrance, especially when they roast some fish...yummy ;P
Waitress take it very serious and renew one for us immediately. Excellent!

We found that they sell Soy sauce now, good gimmick! ( but their soy sauce is extraordinary in favor? $ 48 seems not very worth)

In contract with their telford, mongkok, wanchai and TKO branch, we do think amoy restaurant is the BEST among them ( both service and food quality) ;)

Selling point:

1/ Economical抵食.bowl Maybe that ‘ s the reason why they can have over 20 restaurants in these few years! Membership card got 5% off ;) lovely

2/ Sushi chef is all youngster ( maybe after 80/ 90 ? keekee..) No wonder it takes us more than an hour to wait for a seat every weekend, even目黑壽司 disappear in Amoy Garden, “itacho sushi” is ichiban! tongue

thank you so much of open rice to let us to have the tasting event in this new cafe!

it's a very new try for me, as I seldom go to any upstair cafe.

abt the decor -

the atomsphere is great! very match to have couples/lovers to enjoy their celebration day/ a friend's party as there is pictionary/ many cards game to play ;)

abt the food -

they are selling fusion food. luckily, we try their best/ special tailor-made food this time. i can see there is PIZZA/ PASTA the most in their general menu, which is about $80 -100. ( normal italian food most...)

the best delicious food -

The scallop, tuna, beef and dessert( melting chocolate cake). They are cooked just well. up to hotel sophisticated level, i can say~~ (But wonder why their restaurant called pancake , but the pancake is not very marvelous...i tasted some from my fd)

need-to-improved food -

Most of the food ( except above 4) is recommended to improve, as the taste is generally quite strange, and the combination is not very normal. Eg, the red veggie next to the crab is too sweet. and they used chinese wanton skin to pretend Italian wanton? The Italian rice is too hard. The soup is too light in taste, only like tomato + a lot of water?! ( sorry to say that, hope that it's just an exceptional case in my meal )

Impression -

The food delivery is too late, service is ok, the waiters are very kind. The chair is not very comfortable, too big. The toilet is great in décor, but too hot. The overall atmosphere is ok, but it may not be my cup of tea. As I think food taste + comfortable seating area are top important.

I used to have lunch with colleagues here, about 2 times per week. To be honest, there is not many good food nearby in kwun tong industry zone, except sung kor !

As they have a discount for people over 5, will have 1 free, so normally we have aobut 10 ppl and get 2 ppl free, which is in a very competitive prices. that's why we enjoy a lot! tongue

their food: sorry to say that, dont' try their steak, it's terrible/ no taste at all. however, their chicken/ beef/ tongue/ fish are quite good and tasty! the side dish is fine, rice, spaghetti, bun are ok, cook just right with not-to-salty sauces, all sauces are very delicious, especially garlic and black pepper sauces. well done!

environment, of course, the best compared with all restaurant nearby! the black tall and big sofa ( my favourite) with free TV and newspapers ( many choose), good!

service, if not many ppl in the restaurant, they are very nice. unfortunately, we can see some chaos when whole place is full, a bit not enough helping hands...

we suggest if their price can be a lot lower( last year set lunch is $38 , and now is $48) we found it's far too high ( so we will only go when we have 5 or 10 ppl)

generally, we enjoy to eat there. hopefully will have chance to try their dinner hot pot! we saw sometimes quite a lot of ppl at night ;)

I am so lucky to be invited to try the Ming Garden food organized by openrice last week. It’s a very gorgeous night, we can see the renowned chef to cook abalone in front of us, and their restaurant managers stay with us the whole night, from 7:30 – 11pm to introduce each food and how they made it to us. Most importantly, they told us their long experience is beverage & dining industry, we can eat the top right food with the most reasonable price than another hotel/ Michelin star restaurants! Eg, we can eat the 5 head abalone + shark fins dinning for $6000/table, compared with Li Garden $9000/table, the food is almost the same or even not that marvelous!

We have about 16 dishes that night. The most memorable one is the last dishes – walnut egg white soup. As a dessert lover like me, I used to taste walnut soup in many restaurants. Their walnut soup is exclusively smooth, not too thick, not too watery, not too sweet, with lots of egg white mixture, it’s the best match to make the whole walnut soup become the happiest ending of whole night meal. The restaurant manager even told us that many OL will order it during lunch time, over 100 bowls are sold every day! Must try!

Shark fins with chicken soup清宮明火雞煲翅:full of shark fin, no mix with other meats! Chef said they takes over 4 hours to make it, soup is very light with full of chicken taste. Traditional and good.

Roasted lamb rack菓木烤紐西蘭羊鞍 :my lamb is a bit overcooked, it’ll be better to have around 60% cook.

5 head abalone古法五頭鮑魚鴨掌 :Chef said he used 3-4 days to prepare it! It’s my first time to make an abalone as big as my bowl, over 4 inch in dimension. I love sweety yummy abalone!!!!!

Fried fresh bamboo shrimp豉油皇生煎海花竹蝦:it’s very difficult to buy fresh bamboo shrimp in the market, the shrimp is as big as my palm, about 7 inch/ shrimp, great!

Fried 2 kinds of clam with xo sauce XO醬碧綠炒雙蚌 :

Steamed garoupa老虎班 :fish is cut evenly and soy sause is just right, again, not greasy, very smooth, best hot dish tonight!

Crispy chicken黃金脆皮文昌雞 :very clampy and not too dry, very strong “ chicken favor” , not made by frozen chicken, ok!

Lobster with soaked rice西施龍蝦肉泡飯: can’t find lobster, but very surprice with the mixture of crispy rice and soaked rice in the mouth, very special and delicious!

bean curd skin with Pea Shoot鮮竹泡翡翠: very light and sleek bean curd skin, together with pea shoot and some dried scallops on top, very tasty and healthy!

Hokkaido 3.6 milk mango pudding北海道3.6牛乳芒果布甸: lots of mango granule with my favorite 3.6 hokkaido milk…too full to eat the whole cup~

Osmanthus flowers jelly宮廷桂花糕: the coconut taste is a bit too strong and cover the fagrance of osmanthus flowers, still quite good. Beautiful presentation.

Bird's nest bun燕窩椰汁壽桃包: a bit too sweet for me, yet, best for lady to eat for smoother skin, the traditional lotus paste is great, hot serve, just right.

Walnut soup生磨蛋白杏仁茶: Exclusively smooth, not too thick, not too watery, not too sweet, with lots of egg white mixture

One more thing I have to mention is their service. The waitress is very nice, after we eat the fish, she proactively help us to cut the fish head and let us easily share around. The whole team is very helpful, when our table waitress is busy, another one will come to serve us immediately! We feel their heartiness and efficiency, well done!

When we are enjoying the last meal, I walked to the toilet and find that there is absolutely clean and tidy, it’s very important for a dining experience too! I found some poster stated that around $16/ dumsum in the day time, and we asked the manager, he said the day time meal is actually in a very reasonable price, as they just opened for 3 months and would like to attract more people to come! Obviously, they achieve this aim this time..hahaha ;)

As my bf is working nearby, we plan to go there next month for my mum’s birthday!

luckily we have airport colleague discount, otherwise, we won't go to this korean bbq restaurant. my bf and I am not fond of bbq food as too hot and not good for health. Surprisingly, the RIB of this restaurant is so GREAT! We share one set at the beginning and have to order one more as only 6-8 pieces of rib / set.
6 side dish is good too, not very sour like kimchi, I almost eat it all!!!
The veggies fried rice and soup are fine too, not very special, but full of Korean taste! good job!
Environment is nice and very romantic, good for big gathering and a couple!
Service: a bit slow, the manager is handy and helpful, but we saw a waitress broke a big glass plate, and quite noisy when they clean up the dishes of another table! maybe not enough waiters there?!
We definitely will go there again ( must bring our airport fd along~ )
$150/ head due to 40% off as one of our friend is working in airport.
