Super Nice Dinner Smile Dec 04, 2009

Visited Cafe Express again for Buffet Dinner... a bit worry as seeing some of the not too good comments recently... I haven't visited for months because I couldn't book the table for a while (I never like booking too advance and wait and wait..) It always happen that when a restaurant gets popular the standard declines, I thought Cafe Express was one of these.....
Since my friend loves eating oysters and there are 5 kinds of order-to-open oysters, we decided to go for it. Imagine my friend can easily eat 10 pcs, easy to get back the value! I made a booking for this week and it was not busy at all. The staff told me because of the price has increased, the cafe is not as crowded as before. Well, now, with the coupon it's $528 for 2, I think is still fine as it's not yet touching my $300 margin (our budget).
I had some nice baked oysters, I loved it!!! And the sashimi is soooo fresh, and the sushi.... the one with the shrimp is simply divine! I had at least 5. They refill very fast and the staff clear our plates very fast too. To finish the meal in 2 hours time is not a problem for us at all! I found myself keep on eating for 2 hours, that's crazy!
Hot dishes wise, well, I find everywhere is similar, nothing to highlight but I love their curry. I know they have an indian chef may be this is the reason that the curry is so nice! Be honest, I filled myself up just with the seafood and sashimi (in order to get back the value ma~)
They have put all the dessert in a fridge now. I love it! I scare to see those 'sweating' dessert and before I didn't touch too much. Now, I find it tempting to try....good improvement. The cakes are all mini-size, very cute!

I will still go back for sure.... especially December everywhere is so pricey, Cafe Express is one of my most favorite choices!

Birthday Dinner Smile Sep 28, 2009

I have visited this hotels couple times since I am working just next door.... with the promotions keep on sending to me, I finally pick the Santa Lucia again for my friend's birthday as I know the manager Angie very well that she will definitely prepare me a cake free of charge mad
As usual, Angie prepared me the best table by the window side. This time is my buddy Faye's birthday and she's expecting a nice dinner with view. Though I don't think Santa Lucia is a 'surprise', venue wise, as we had lunch before but at least Faye never been there for night time, she was impressed by the view. She brought over her cousin as well. Not surprise that she found the hotel hidden but she was surprised of the open view when arriving there.
The food was well-presented, taste waste is good though I won't give a WOW! However, it's up to expectation with the price, about 300 for a main + appetizer I think is fair. I love the steak, never goes wrong and Faye ordered a wild salmon, it's tasty not like those frozen salmon, it's really fresh. For appetizer, we take the foie gras which looks very nice but too heavy for me. Faye took a soup she loves the quail egg inside its cute though!
Angie offered us a birthday cake with the name on it, and it's a 1lb cheese cake, we couldn't finish it and Angie kindly offered us to take it home (she said only for us as she thanked us going there always, no problem Angie, we will be there again because of you) lol

Birthday Lunch  Smile Jun 18, 2009

I was very happy with my birthday lunch yesterday in Santa Lucia.... (of course I didn't pay for it that is an extra bonus)
They have a big buffet table, well, with a lot of very detailed appetizers. Now they are running a Tomato Promotion, I love Tomato and I am happy. I found a lot of good choices. However, my friend doesn't eat tomato complained about it! Well, I don't care, I was happy, it was my birthday ma lol~ In fact, they have also Parma Ham, those big one looks very classy! Salad is fresh. Very five star look!
Main course: Yes, you need to put on another 20$ for a pasta, but it is good value still I'd say since it's quite big portion. However, if I have known it, I may just opt for the appetizer buffet + dessert as they have also pizza on the table which made me full already. I should not have ordered that pasta at the first place....
Dessert is nice, fresh food, cakes, hot pudding.... chocolates were super great too~
Since they told the staff that I had a birthday, I got a nice cake with a candle on it! I was happy! I think it's a nice touch. The staff said "Happy Birthday " to me with a Great smile when presenting the cake and warm touch! Overall service was attentive.... some staff looks young but they are attentive and polite enough.... always somebody around that's all I need.

Happy Lunch  Smile Jun 08, 2009

I always wanted to give a try to Azure as I drink there all the times but seldom try out the food. Mixed comments be honest, some told me the food is over-priced and some told me well not as good as before - still I trust ony my own tastebud.

In order to fit in my budget (with this economy what's more important than money saving), I tried out the lunch. Unbelievable that it's only HK$148 and it's a buffet. Compare to other restaurants in the same building. This is really good value.

It's not a buffet like those in a cheap hotel but a special 5 star boutique style- salad, very fresh and they have the bset quality ingredient - you can choose from sandwich or pasta for main - that day I had a tuna sandwich~ The portion and the quality, you have to pay HK$148 just for that in some other same class hotels (may be more) but here you can have the buffet appetizer and dessert! Super~

Service is superb! The waiter is so smart seems like reading our mind! They are not those style of service that 'sticking' you around but very natural and relaxing - they are there only if you want

And the most important thing, the guests are with a class, to see and to be seen, it applies for the lunch hour also!

Excellent Food, Service Hiccup Smile May 06, 2009

We have been planning to try out this well-known restaurant.
Be honest, it's not my style to pay a lot for a meal and I have been checking if it worths for Zuma. A lot of mixing remarks, some told me the food is not as good before, some told me the dessert is great that not-to-miss and some said fair only not worth the price. I decided to try out during the long weekend.
Food:
Appetizer: I have no complain - all the food (ingredients) are the best quality. I seldom eat Sashimi but here, the sashimi is so fresh that not only I tried but I loved it! The sushi is simply GREAT! I couldn't stop! And the home-made Tofu, you can hardly find it anywhere else (It is the traditional Japanese Tofu they are serving). The grill is lovely, don't miss the chicken and the mushroom!
Maincourse:
Both of us chose a meat dish, the meat - supreme quality! You can tell not the culinary skills but the meat itself also can make you a great meal!
Dessert:
May be I had great expectation, I was very disappointed. Dessert - remember - it's just a platter - hence you have limited choice and limited portion. I was expecting more may be hence none of us were happy about that.
Service:
They tried to be attentive and smiley but hiccups - my husband was very upset as they kept on asking us when they should serve our main course (seems like they want the table back). And though my husband kept on saying he wanted it later but still he was being served the main course and he had to cut his appetizer.... that was a bit pissing off. And he was very upset about the coffee tea to be charged as he expected it should be included - well, I would say fair to Zuma, as beverage is where you can get the revenue with this super value brunch.
One great thing to mention - bring you kid there, super children friendly. My child was given colouring pencil when she arrived, they have kids menu (she enjoyed it) and they even have a kids' room to keep her happy while we can enjoy our brunch! Let alone that kids eat free! Sounds great for family, right?!

Recommended Dish(es):  ALL food are great except disappointing dessert platter
