Honestly, I didn't realize this restaurant is an affiliate of Liberty Exchange until I was told by a friend during the dinner. No wonder they can keep such a great standard on food! I have been to Liberty Exchange couple of times & found their finger food (+ proper meal) were pretty creative & delectable. Here I go in this private kitchen where everyone is sitting at the chef table to be served.

Liberty Private Works has a stunning view with its cozy dim setting inside. I guess they can serve at most 26 people at the chef table setting. Personally, I don't really enjoy sitting on the bar stool, I'd rather relaxing myself in a comfortable chair to enjoy a 4-hour meal smile

bowl Champignon mix starter - stunning! I am a mushroom lover so this was such a beautiful piece to kick off the meal. The mushroom soup in a shot glass was really amusing...love it!

bowl Market Fish, Brussel sprouts, Ginger bread crumbs- among all the dishes, this was the most ordinary one; well, pls don't get me wrong, it's still delicious yet it's not surprising though. The ginger bread crumbs mingled interestingly with the fish...good try

bowl Egg, Truffle, Parmesan, Caviar - OMG, this signature dish was awesome!!! 5 thumbs up!!! I have made a collage of this dish to show the before & after form of this dish. There's the egg yolk covered by the ingredients on top that you have to poke it through to break the yolk so that it mixed well with the truffle, parmesan cheese & caviar. I just couldn't stop myself from dipping the mini baguette with the sauce & sipping the Red...MARRIAGE !!! tonguetongue

bowl Beef Cheek, Eggplant, Zucchini, Harissa - the 2nd main course was supposed to be lamb yet the chef swaped it with beef for those who are not into lamb. I was 95% full when this course arrived but I couldn't resist the temptation in trying a little bit of everything on this dish. The beef cheek was so tender and carried an intense beefy taste, really remarkable. Definitely a good alternative to lamb.

chopstick Fruits, Soda, Sorbet, Roasted, Poached - We (13 of us) all witnessed the creativity of the chef & how he came up with this piece of art. Therefore, it's not only about food/ingredients but also his heart & passion towards cooking here. This dessert was another surprise & made me feel like having the molecular gastronomic food. tongue

sad

It took me some time to finally try this Michelin 2-star (now 3-star which just happened one day after my visit) Italian restaurant. I am an Italian cuisine fan & so fancy about the white truffle, 8 1/2 will be the final destination coz I can't complain on any one course. The only thing I have a comment is the noise in the restaurant, the whole environment is quite loud at its full house.

Let's start with the bread loaf...not impressive but there are 5 varieties to choose from and it has my favorite sun-dried tomato focaccia bread so I am happy with it.

Appetizers:
=========

chopstick Marinated beef tenderloin on carpaccio of fresh vegetables & crispy parmesan
LOVE! It's unbelievable...I like this dish from Brasserie on the 8th but now the trophy went to 8 1/2. It was so good, if you like raw beef, you definitely have to try this dish.

chopstick Roast duck foie gras - Piedmont hazelnut sauce, smoked duck in dice, green
Another LOVE! Honestly, I won't forget the juicy tender inside of the foie gras & the yummy hazelnut sauce

Main Courses:
============

chopstick Tagliatelle - Boston lobster & porcini mushroom ragout
The tagliatelle was served at the same time as the Egg in raviolo so my mind was somehow being driven away by the strong scent of white truffle. Yet, I have to say that this is a very good pasta dish, I love tagliatelle & I like the chef prepared the pasta in the appropriate al dente way.

chopstickEgg in raviolo - ricotta cheese & spinach; hazelnut butter & white truffle
OMG, u can smell the stunning white truffle wherever you seat once the chef open the lid of the white truffle container, it's awesome! I was struggling between 3 options on the white truffle menu: Tajima beef tenderloin with foie gras, scramble egg & the raviolo. I tried to reason with myself about each choice & finally picked the raviolo because it's simple. My whole intention was to enjoy the white truffle and the ingredient to go with it is extremely imperative. MARRIAGE! A perfecto dish...LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE...it's beyond words can explain tongue

Dessert:
=======

chopstick Coffee Trio - I was indeed going to pass on the dessert since I was full & not a dessert fan, but then my friend whatsapp me at the perfect timing checking if I ordered the dessert or not. She sent me images of recommended Pear tart (well, I don't like this one though she said it's very good) then a photo of the coffee trio. The presentation of the Coffee Trio was so good that I would just give it a go. The tiramisu was very creamy not so strong with the espresso taste whilst the coffee ice-cream was really smooth with the a touch of the bitterness and the tart just kept a balance of coffee-ish & sweetness. I will recommend this to all the coffee fans lol

As a michelin starred restaurant, they will round up your evening with a lovely dessert platter on the house...and I finished my last sip of Italian Red with it tongue

Supplementary Information:
I decided to bring my parents to try the white truffle @ this restaurant & I was thinking to set a date with them in the weekend. Unexpectedly, they got the 3-star award on the next day & 8 1/2 becomes the ONLY Michelin 3-star Italian Restaurant outside Italy. My gosh, their bookings filled up quickly within MINUTES...I was only able to make a reservation on Dec 27 but I am worried that the white truffle season will be gone by then. I was told that they will definitely have white truffle during X'mas but uncertain towards end of Dec, they said they will give me a call as confirmation when the it gets closer to the date. I am having my fingers crossed...

We have a lovely dinner gathering @ Uno Duo Trio who just moved to this new address not long ago. Upon our arrival, we were not sure if we hit the right place coz there’s no sign of the restaurant name in sight. We just went straight up to the 19/F to try our luck…there we went! Later, we were then told that the restaurant hasn’t been opened officially, so it’s just their soft opening & we were the only table that nite with a party of 6 pax, no wonder!

I had never been to the old venue so I couldn’t say if the new location is better or not but one thing I am certain that it’s a cozy setup. Since they haven’t got the liquor license, we brought our own Champagnes & Brunello magnum for food pairing. The pretty owner (Chef), Lana, greeted us politely & apologized that the course will be served slower than usual as she has to do everything with limited staff available. Honestly, it’s perfectly fine with us, we just grabbed the time to chit chat & mingle!

Here came the "improvised" menu

bowl Appetizer – Truffle mushroom pate with cheese stick; pistachio topped liver pate on toast; fig with mozzarella di buffalo; sardine stuffed cherry tomato with bottarga
This was really a pleasant surprise, we all loved this appetizer…refreshing & yummy!

:

bowl Burrata, arugula & cherry tomato with 25-y-o balsamic vinegar
I have to emphasize the “burrata” here, it’s indeed fresh Mozzarella filled with shreds of mozzarella soaked in cream – very rare & its freshness can only lasts for one day...better eat fresh or forget it.

bowl Mozzarella & anchovy stuffed zucchini blossom + scrambled Italian egg with truffle
PERFECTO!!! The zucchini blossom was awesome, there’s juicy coming out from the centre & the strong veggie taste was stunning. The Italian egg was very fresh & Lana prepared it in a slightly runny form & it went so well with the black truffle.

bowl Fresh squid ink handmade pappardelle with Italian baby squids
I always love the squid ink pasta & Lana made the frest pappardelle to go with it which is amazing. Our only complaints went to the # of baby squids on our dish...we should be offered more tongue

bowl Slow cooked Farmer’s chicken stew with Portobello mushroomsProbably we were pretty full by the time we had this main course, honestly, the meat was a bit tough (dark meat was much tender)

bowl Finally...the Italian ice-cream as the dessert...hmm...without surprise...thought they will have Tartufo instead...
sad

Supplementary Information:
We recommend those who really want to (appreciate) enjoy a homey Italian meal to frequent this restaurant the 5-course meal is not cheap yet ll the ingredients are freshly delivered from Italy. Lana spends aweful lots of time to pick & “bid” the ingredients since stocks are limited. smile
