It was dinner time, I was walking around Western District and noticed a large signage showing that there was a Malaysia-Singapore Restaurant in Traders Hotel. Back to the food, the waiter suggested I try the Housemade Satay. He mentioned that all the sauces and marinade are made in the kitchen and not from a packaged source. I orderd that and also tried that Hainanese Chicken Rice as it looked very yummy from the colour photos in the menu. (By the way, the menu is very interesting....it uses a wooden backboard with a printed map at the back showing where the food is from).

Food came in about 15mins...Satay came first...it was presented very simply, it had cut onions, cucumbers and malay rice cakes...The most important was the satay and peanut sauce!!! The satay was very tender (Chicken and Beef) and fresh..not chewy and firm like some other restaurants...the peanut sauce was warm and was not watery, when combined with the satay..was heaven!!! I have to give 2 thumbs up for this dish! It has been a long time since I tasted satay that good. When I took a closer look, I could tell that the meat was hand skewered into the satay stick as it was packed nicely and centred. (I have tasted many machine skewered satay and sometimes they fall off the stick when it is cooked)

Hainanese Chicken Rice was served shortly... Chicken was nice and tender...The rice was cooked just right and had good flavour...I was pleasantly surprised to find that the Chef had poured a sesame sauce (I hope my guess was right) over the chicken, giving it extra flavour!!!

I didn't try the dessert as I was already very full...maybe next time when I come back with some friends...

There is a credit card discount for almost all credit cards...so I used one to settle the bill...not expensive for a hotel style restaurant...

Overall....2 thumbs up!!!
