I love Hutong! I've been there three times total, every time someone from abroad visits me. Maybe I like it so much because it is indeed Chinese food suitable for Westerners. I love Hutong! I've been there three times total, every time someone from abroad visits me. Maybe I like it so much because it is indeed Chinese food suitable for Westerners. Everyone has loved it so far!

Service is excellent, they help you choose and make adjustments to the food if you wish (e.g.: my friends didn't like pork, so they made the dumplings with cabbage and lamb instead). The atmosphere is fabulous, nice decoration, killer view.

I made a reservation two days in advance and was told that for the second shift, there were no window tables available. When I arrived, they gave us one nonetheless - like!

I am a bit bewildered that people find it so awful that they have two shifts. This is common practice with popular restaurants and if you don't want to be in a rush (btw, you have two full hours if you come at 6, that should be enough to have a massive feast right?!), you can choose the second shift, it's not a problem.

Every time I've had dumplings (all excellent and freshly made of course), twice the asparagus with sesame (very tasty but a bit small), two kinds of fish (cod and Mandarin fish), Szechuan fried chicken (great taste but too much chilli in too little chicken), boneless duck (excellent), and I don't remember more.

I love the food, sometimes portions are a bit small (especially for the price of some dishes) and sometimes I don't get the pricing policy - why is fish sooo much more expensive than meat? And the atmosphere just makes it. The toilet is quite an experience too.
