My birthday! And as usual, it always rains. But as it was my birthday, I was determined to have cake. And off we went to Kwun Tong area to get me some cake. Unfortunately, the rain came hard and the closest place for shelter was here. Once there, we saw it was a really beautiful cafe. It wasn't our original destintion, but it would do just fine.Menu is in English and Chinese. They had a lunch set menu that includes a set drink with a 50% off discount for other drinks. Menu is in English and Chinese. They had a lunch set menu that includes a set drink with a 50% off discount for other drinks. The lunch sets can be upgraded to add a soup and bread for $28. They also have a dessert menu that was in Chinese only. The menu appeared to serve a variety of Thai influenced dishes as well as keto friendly ones.
As it was lunch time, we ordered lunch. I chose the set ice fruit tea (on the left) and boyfriend upgraded to a papaya mango smoothie ($52 but with lunch is $26). The fruit tea was nice and fruity. A slight taste of the tea. The papaya and mango smoothie was not too sweet and the taste of the papaya was much stronger than the mango. They also had fresh cream on top as well as a slice of dried papaya.
Pan Fried Red Fish Fillet with Tomato Salsa and Kojac Noodles ($118). A keto friendly item from their menu. This was delicious. The fish was cooked perfectly. The skin crispy and the meat moist and tender. The salsa was not spicy and had nice tomato base with fresh herbs. The konjac noodles were springy and soaked up the salsa very well. Everything tasted fresh.
Boyfriend had the Boeuf Bourguinon with Cauliflower Rice ($98). Also a keto friendly dish. The beef and rice were served separately.
The beef was moist and tender. They appeared to have used beef rib fingers so it was more of a quick cook instead of a slow braising method. There were soft potatoes and the sauce was rich.
The cauliflower rice was seasoned and there were bits of carrot and string beans to give it a some crunch. Usually not a fan of cauliflower rice as many places forget about the seasoning but this place didn't. One of the best cauliflower rice I've had in a while.
We ended with dessert which was a Brownie with Ice Cream ($52). Pancakes were not being served that day so a brownie was the next best thing. It was served with the ice cream cone on top to give it some crunchiness. The brownie was fantastic. Rich and moist. Not dry and cakey like so many places. Not too sweet as well and very very chocolatey. There was some fresh strawberries and blueberries on the side.
Glad we found this place. The food not only felt healthy but was delicious. Everything was well seasoned and plating was lovely. Seating was comfortable. Would probably be back.
