I live in the Yau Yat Tsuen area and unfortunately, a lot of the good restaurants and stores have closed down - replaced by all housing retails, even our 7-11 is gone! So many of us living here, our only option really is April K or Aunt Polly otherwise we have to go into crowded Festival Walk for overpriced food. So anyways, April K is interesting as every day there is a different lunch combination and often times the price is good! But whilst the price is good, there are some dishes where the flavor is missing out. For instance, minestrone soup is an all-time favorite for us in Hong Kong but somehow it tastes slightly watered down here but nonetheless, still good. The baked food is delicious - especially the baked pork chop rice
which sometimes can be cooked a little longer for the optimum taste. A lot of the local Chinese dishes are okay, and the lunch menu, whilst cheap only costing around $30 I think? is average. It is great for a quick fix lunch and is convenient, but I would prefer more styles of dishes rather than just simply Chinese.
All in all, the food here is acceptable, not the best and sometimes when ordering delivery, the staff can be rather rude and rushed. When asking simply for a breakdown of the menu which is only 4-5 options, the staff will often times just tell you to check facebook then hang up. But what if you don't have access to facebook at the time?? It's much easier if they could just use the 2 minutes to tell us. Also, seats are ok but are not the most comfortable as those giant back panels take up a LOT of space and is often too straight to truly sit comfortably.
