More Nostalgia......
I was living on Caine Road in the early 90's when I was single, and I walked by this Dai Pai Dong everyday on my way to work. Back then it was run by an old couple, and I always worried about their health (they were really old!). At that time the Elgin Steet and Staunton Street were both very run down with lots of printing factory.
Today I had a haircut at nearby Visage, the salon that turn into a Jazz & Blues club every other Saturday. After the haircut I decided to treat myself with some sweet. I had the cold green bean soup with seaweed. It was as refreshing as ever, and the green bean was "sand like", meaning that it had been cooked for a long time. I remember watching the old couple boiling those green bean in a hugh metal pot. Now the couple is replaced by a younger lady. I guess she must be their daughter.
Their dumpling with sugar, coconut and sesame is also recommended. But as I was on my own it would be too much food. Next time may be.
