When I first walked in and looking at the ambience, I thought that I would bring my friends next week to have a feel of the old Hong Kong food and ambience.

I ordered a set with 'so-called' grilled pork and my friend order 'rib-eye'.

My first disappointment came when we have just started drinking the soup, the main dish came. Obviously there is no space and for both dishes, and the waiter took away the rib-eye. There is no sequence of food serving, not even the basic common sense.

My experience with the grilled pork was REALLY BAD! As a good cook myself, I can imagined what they did was to boil a piece of lean pork, sliced it, use a dark sweet sauce over it and that's it. For the price that we are paying at HKD175, this dish has got nothing to generate appetite in terms of design, the taste was nothing but sweet dark sauce and the pork was so lean that you need a lot of chewing.

Then came my coffee. Visually it looks ok as there is a layer of coffee oil but then there is no coffee aroma and it was very bitter tasting. As a coffee lover, I can tell that they used the cheapest bean on an expresso machine to churn out this cup of diluted coffee.

I also went to the toilet and it was wet, smelly and dirty.

I am really dissapointed with Tai Ping Koon. On the outlook, it has a good concept of introducing the old Hong Kong food but practically, there is nothing worth talking about this restaurant. I wonder why people still queue up for it. I think it is because of the concept, I wonder how long it would last.

Don't ever bring your guests this restaurant.
