I shamelessly admit, I like Starbucks. Sure, they are mainstream and popular. Yes, they are the McDonald's of coffeeshops, but seriously .... who does a better frappacinno than Starbucks? And no one does a better pumpkin spice latte than them (which I miss so bad and Hong Kong doesn't have this flavor). I shamelessly admit, I like Starbucks. Sure, they are mainstream and popular. Yes, they are the McDonald's of coffeeshops, but seriously .... who does a better frappacinno than Starbucks? Fashion Walk's Starbucks branch has undergone a renovation and now offer more normal coffee selections for people who don't want to drink a frappacinno or a gingerbread toffee praline latte or whatever they are conjuring up lately. And exclusive only at this branch they serve ... affogato. No other branch in Hong Kong (and later I found around the world as friends from France to the US told me so) serve this. For $48, you can choose between chocolate or vanilla. As I'm not a big chocolate fan, I chose vanilla.

My vanilla affogato was served on a pretty wooden tray. It included a shot of expresso, a scoop of super smooth vanilla ice cream, crunchy caramel bits, toasted almonds and caramel sauce. Mixed all together, it was glorious. Don't be picky about how the expresso was, how acidic or velvet it was. Don't get all coffee snotty about how the coffee isn't as good as so and so. This was just sinfully glorious. The ice cream mixed with coffee all with toasty almonds and crunchy caramel. It felt like heaven in this little glass.
