Authentic Malaysian and Singaporean Hawker Fare
Cafe Malacca is now "Bib Goumand" restaurant in MICHELIN Guide 2014/2015. The restaurant features authentic Malaysian and Singaporean hawker fare. Diners at Café Malacca will be transported to the hawkers of Malaysia and Singapore for street-style food, all freshly prepared with aromatic spices, herbs and ingredients.

Chef Sunny Tse serves hearty comfort food, from house specialities Gado Gado, a traditional Indonesian vegetable salad with tofu and creamy peanut sauce, to Satay, a Malay food of grilled bite-sized chicken or beef skewered on to bamboo sticks. Other must-haves include Beef Rendang, a dry flavourful curry; Koay Teow Thng, flat rice noodles in duck broth with fish balls, duck meat and julienne of pork blood; as well as Klang Bakut Teh, meaty pork ribs in soup infused with herbs and spices.

Dined here with my boyfriend. Both of us are fans of southeast asian food. Thus at this highly recommended restaurant, we ordered 檳城炒貴刁 and 星洲香辣烤魚 for the afternoon snacks.... However, to our great surprise,檳城炒貴刁 is unexpectely greasy and heavily burnedshocked!!! The shrimps, noodles, and the bean sprouts, almost all of them got nastly black scalds on the bottom.... and eventually, we cancelled the food..anyway the service is not that bad. For 星洲香辣烤魚, I am not u...

Cafe Malacca is the long standing restaurant in Traders Hotels (now called Hotel Jen and part of the Shangri-La Hotel Group.) They serve authentic Malaysian and Singaporean classic Hawker dishes- especially from Penang! (How exciting! I still remember going to Malaysia, Singapore- and just feasting away at all the delicious food!) I was excited to go for a Cafe Malacca for a tasting and see what all the buzz was about! Also they're in this year...

Set Lunch HKD148+ Gado Gado as a small appetizer was good with an authentic peanut sauce.  Emping was slightly less crispy. Nasi Lemak for main dish was below my expectations.  Sambal (albeit dry), Ikan Bilis, and Chicken pieces (2) were acceptable.  Nasi was cooler than expected without the  Lemak fragrance and taste I am used to back home. Coffee and Kueh.  Forget the coffee...hotel buffet restaurant standard, bland.  Choose Barley instead.  Kueh D...

I came here about a year ago, but I can't really remember how the food was. This day, I decided to revisit it with my grandma and aunt.  Environment & Hygiene: This restaurant is located on the 2nd floor of the Traders Hotel. The place is quite spacious and clean looking. Also, it has a nice and quiet atmosphere, which is quite relaxing. Taste & Value: For lunch, you have a choice of ordering 1 appetizer+ 1 main+ 1 drink or 1 main + 1 dessert + 1 drink...

I had a large numbe of Singaporean classics last time I was in Singapore, but I've been on the lookout for a local place to offer up the same. Cafe Malacca is high-end street-food, not cooked on the street. The first dish that came was the Penang Char Koay Teow, stir fried flat rice noodles with prawns, chinese sausages, chives, and bean sprouts. Another reviewer described this as very spicy, but that is really not true; it will tingle your lips a bit, but there's no real sp...

This place is quite decent for sing-malay food fare. Food wise, it's good, but not price. Spent $360 for two persons and we're left still feeling hungry. Highly Recommended: Chicken skewers (7 sticks but the meat are really tiny) and char kwey teow received two thumbs up from us.  Downside: Food a bit too salty and portions are very small. Nasi lemak is quite good, but only came with two very small tiny pieces of chicken. Dessert: Okay, unless you're in for ...

My wife and I was searching for the 'perfect' Singapore food ....instead of flying home to Singapore ... Heard of this recommendation from a friend and decided to make a reservation for lunch. The cafe is on the 3rd floor of a hotel, whose lobby area is itself on the 2nd floor. the ground floor facing the Empress Street west was rather inconspicuous. Anyway the taxi took us there and the taxi appear to be very familiar with Sai Wan area. The restaurant had only 3 tab...

Stomachs rumbling J and I trooped here. But we didn't eat a lot because we would be going to B's for housewarming. And we would buy dessert for B. It was a happy occasion as a group of colleagues and I went to have a team lunch at Cafe Malacca, it was our first time to dine there and were all looking forward to some authentic Singaporean / Malay cuisine. At the entrance, we were warmly welcomed by the staff and ushered into the dining area. It was quite spacious and we were seated near the "stalls" where some chefs were preparing some dishes. However as we chose a-la-carte so we didn't need to checkout those "stalls"...

It was dinner time, I was walking around Western District and noticed a large signage showing that there was a Malaysia-Singapore Restaurant in Traders Hotel. I was hungry and decided to try it out. I managed to get a seat quickly even without a reservation. The service staff was fast in serving me the menu. They also let me know that there was a Chinese menu available if I needed one. *Nice thought for the restaurant as I guess more Chinese tourist are coming over to visi...
