Came with some expectations. Left with quite a lot of disappointments. Ordered 2 weekend set lunch at $308 each. Bread The sourdough is piping hot and tasty, especially after wipg with the homemade butter. The best part of the meal. Starters 1. Herb Risotto, mascarpone, and Serrano crusted soft egg This is spendid. Although the risotto has lost its chewy texture after deep-frying, the combination of the sauce, cheese, poached egg and rice is unbeatable. The flavo...

It was the most popular restaurant in the Restaurant Week, so my friend and I decided to try it out. When we arrived, we found that the restaurant was nicely decorated with a relaxing atmosphere even though the seating was a little bit crowded. I ordered the soup and chicken, and my friend ordered the salmon and beef. It was nice that the waiter poured the soup into the bowl in front of us, so we would see how the bowl was decorated before the soup in it. However, I found the soup was avera...

With so many restaurants in Honkers, one of the fun games is trying to figure out which are the best to dine at. Sure, there are restaurant guides, like the Michelin Guide and Open Rice, but it's often word of mouth where the absolute surprises come along. We were heading out as a team for a farewell lunch for one member of the team who was leaving for greener pastures and wound up at one of the best surprises I've had in Hong Kong so far. Usually when we go out for a team l...

Luscious Furnishing, dim Lighting, large tables with comfortable spacing are good western restaurant’s default. Madam Sixty Ate added an Al Fresco terrace for chill drinking (/ smoking) and an open kitchen to round up the ambiance. Service is impeccable, GM Jean Noel was among one of the most amiable and attentive man I have ever encountered. Smiles was always on his face, numerous little fun conversation were made at point of serving the dishes. Not to mention a few ...

Brunch has gotten more popular in Hong Kong and it isn’t difficult to find a restaurant that serves decent brunch. Madam Sixty Ate has been on my list for a while as one of the better places I want to try. It is a restaurant that doesn’t do brunch exclusively, like many cafés in HK. In fact, most of their business comes from their dinner service. Luckily I had a brunch date with some friends last week so I decided to make the trip to the island to try it out. Although I made a...

Having been to Madam Sixty Ate for dinner before, I was impressed with the food so I've been wanting to go back. Just so happens that Restaurant Week was happening so I decided to come back for lunch. Located in Wan Chai, the elavator entrance was easy to find on Ship Street where other hip restaurants reside such as 22 Ships, Ham & Sherry, Akrame, etc.The decor at the restaurant was casual and whimsical with paintings of food ingredients like pigs, fishes, and rabbit...

Continuing with the previous post here are the photos of other dishes. Some of which I didn’t taste, some of which I have their names forgotten… but from the photos you’re able to tell what they were, and to tell that they were as yummy as you can imagine! Then we’d moved on to the part that we ladies looked most forward to — DESSERT! And I was super happy to be invited into the kitchen, to watch Chef Anthony prepare the savory treats up-close (and to taste the ingre...

I was at a very casual (business) lunch with Mary at Madam Sixty Ate in Wanchai. Had an delightful time tasting dishes and cocktail, watching the chef prepare food, chatting and laughing. It was actually my first visit here and it has definitely left me a good impression! Thanks to the innovative minds and skillful hands of Head Chef Shaun Anthony and Mixologist Tom Wood, and of course the attentiveness of General Manager Jean-Noel.We looked at the latest menu,...
