Introduction
22 Ships offers an eclectic menu of modern Spanish tapas created by Michelin Star Chef Jason Atherton of Pollen Street Social fame – a protégé of Ferran Adrià and Gordon Ramsay. All tapas served in a buzzy yet relaxed setting, and a dynamic list of wines, spirits and Spanish beers. The no reservation- no service charge tapas bar offers diners an opportunity to experience what Atherton describes as ‘the deformalizing of fine dining’.

Went to 22 Ships once last year, was impressed by the food, but wasn't by the price.  Passed by last night and decided why not try again, since it was 6PM and wasn't crowded at all.  Ended up paying $1400 for 2 and was not happy about it.   When will people in HK wake up and say "no" to restaurant like this, that think they can charge whatever they want to their clients without blinking their eyes?  The food were so disappointing this time, which make paying for the b...

When 22 Ships first hit the ground running back in 2012, it became Hong Kong's first tapas bar with a strong Asian twist and with their instant success, it set off a trend that would soon be followed by many others in the F&B business. But honestly I have not been back as often as I like since the departure of Chef Lee Westcott. As a matter of fact, I think this may very well be my first visit since Chef Nathan Green, former head chef at Restaurant Story, took over the re...

I've not really been in Hong Kong long enough to have witnessed the gentrification of parts of Wan Chai. I mean I can still see elements of the old Hong Kong in the hip Hong Kong district, but it seems as if a large part of the area has already changed. It's not for me to say whether that's a good or bad thing, I have a natural predilection towards urban renewal, but there are some parts of Wan Chai that are now pretty hip and cool. Ship Street is probably one of the leadi...

22 Ships, a vibrant little tapas bar by Michelin Starred Chef Jason Atherton, offers an exceptionally fun dining experience with its buzzing & relaxing setting. You may choose to sit at the U-shaped bar watching the chef cook and serve you, or near the windows watching the world go by the busy Ship Street outside.   | This dish is soo flavourful and refreshing, and definitely tastes way more than it looks. Absolutely love the brown butter cauliflower puree and walnut pes...

On a rainy day, my friend and I managed to find two bar seats in this popular restaurant by Michelin chef Jason Atherton, who was previously the Executive chef for Gordon Ramsay's Maze in London. Personally I have not been too impressed by Gordon Ramsay's restaurant, but given the popularity of this Spanish Tapas bar, I decided to give Gordon's protege a try. We ordered mini burgers, gambas ( prawns) , scallop ceviche, toastie, green tea cheese cake, and white ...

Have always wanted to try 22 ships and finally I'm here...22 ships do not take reservations so my friend got here at 7:30pm..there was a line in front but we were luck enough to get seated in 10 minutes. The place was rather small and crowded and we got seated at one of the high tables on the side (not bar table). We ordered Jamon, manchego & truffle toastie, quail eggs which is highly recommended (9/10)! The toast wascrispy yet not burnt and the taste of truffle went per...

I had been here for dinner before and ordered a variety of tapas, the most memorable being spanish egg toastie and froi gras burger. But coming again for lunch was another delight, with a lunch special seared Australian beef salad with tomato jam for $98. The jam was really good and the beed was very tender too. Calamari with the paparika aeioli had just the right amount of spice. And the cauliflower was on the veggie menu and so unexpectedly good! With some cheese and drops of wal...

22 ships is a great restaurant but it isn't for me. In certain parts of the restaurant it is very cramped and the person next to you is practically touching you. The food however was very good I enjoyed the scallop cerviche with the sweet tangy taste. Because the scallop is served uncooked it gives it a little bit of a fishy aftertaste. The suckling pig is fantastic, the meat is tender and cooked to perfection. Although the food was very good there were some down sides to the food with...

I wasn't planning to visit this place even though I've heard their name few times before. I was on Wanchai ships street but in a rush to get few special tools for my dim sum class practice. A friend who accompany with me craved to b there for a quick bite since there were some empty seats inisde. She said they don't take reservation n normally it's always a long line outside. So we quickly ordered three things from the staff's recommendation. A quail egg truffle toastie was ok but a ...

nice nibble must-try!!! not bad at all! also tried the iberico n foie gras burger but forgot photo : p the burger and lamb r good but overall the fish session outshines the meat session smile the cod was sooo good! so tenderly cooked I'm missing it now. the best dish of this meal and a must-have-again! overall, i'd say 22ship is worth trying and worth revisiting (when the wait is not long). tho the seating was quite tight, the overall atmosphere wa...
