this is hk dimsum! very satisfying. we had a late tunch (tea/lunch), whatever you call it, 4.45pm at timhowan shamshuipo on 2.6.2015. zero queue this time so we just walked in & got a table.  the place was 1/2 full, & progressively filled up. we ordered the 凤爪排骨饭. this my favourite, very nice especially with the slight sweet sauce poured over it. the har gao is always nice, fresh, plump prawns, thin smooth skin, but really crystal jade, imperial treasure etc in singapore does ...

had excellent 4pax dimsum at timhowan at sham shui po, fuk wing street.^^ last time i dined here was in 2013. just as good this time. we were at timhowan at sham shui po at 3pm. there was a queue (this was good friday & we waited about 15mins). we ordered 3 of the 4 signature dishes, namely the crispy char siew buns, the panfried carrot cake, and the liver fun cheong.^^ they were all good. somehow the crispy char siew funs were much better than singapore, very crispy & not so sweet....

Went to this dim sum restaurant the second time within a month.  It was not particularly good or bad last time, but this time is obviously bad, so the review title is an understatement.  I ordered the minced dried squid ("cheung yu") and pork steam rice, and "sin chuk" roll.  The rice came first, the minced pork has the "melt-in-your-mouth" texture because it is mostly fat and no meat or minced dried squid at all.  I could not find the minced dried squid or pork meat textur...

Second time I went to this dim sum restaurant within a month.  Put it mildly, I'm a bit diappointed !  I ordered minced dried squid and pork steamed rice and steamed "sin chuk" roll.  the steam rice came first.  The texture of the minced pork is soft and kind of "melt-in-your" mouth because there was almost no meat at all, mostly fat !  Can't get the minced dried squid and pork meat texture at all in your mouth.  The "sin chuk" roll skin is soft, almost mushy, not ...

Always long queues here but reasonable price and quality. I have been here for few times and it's too rush to dine inside. It's a good idea to order take-out food which takes 5-15 mins usually. The famous crispy BBQ pork bun is not the traditional white one but more like some kind of Mexican bun or pineapple bun with combination of Chinese roasted pork, sauce filling and sweet crust topping. We queued up for 45mins before being seated, in the beginning we weren't even assigned a number, the man told us to "WAIT IN LINE" When we were finally seated it took another 15mins for the waiter to address us because we were speaking English. It's true that we didn't queue in this branch. We went there on a week day around 8PM I often go to tim ho wan when I wanna take some visitors to eat dim sum because the food is good and the price are very fair. But in this branch the food was cold and less well presented. The hygiene seems also to be of a less quality. Soooooooo I might or might not have kept on mentioning/complaining to people that I still haven’t tried Tim Ho Wan yet. In case you’re not from Hong Kong, Tim Ho Wan is the cheapest michelin star restaurant in the world. The chef/owner of the restaurant used to work at the HK Four Seasons hotel’s 3-star Chinese Restaurant Lung King Heen, and left years ago to open his own hole-in-the-wall dimsum eatery in Mong Kok. I am writing this review because some foreign friends told me the foods there is very delicious, one even said it's the best meal he had during his 6 month exchange program  in China.  For me I don't find it especially attractive, but I do agree 1-3 of the dim sums there are much better than other restaurants. Timhowan has 4 famous dishes 四大天王 - crispy char siew pao 脆皮叉烧包, pig liver siew mai, waxed meat pan-fried carrot cake腊味香煎萝卜糕, & a mala cake马拉糕, as in their paper placemats above.
