James Dean 餐的主食,是一個 Original Burger,說真,這的確是一個好 original 的 burger。沒有芝士,卻有沙律醬,而且是千島醬。牛肉是手打的,入口香而且有軟綿綿的口感,配上千島醬而非芝士,味道更香口,入口更惹味。

Fish Platter

Among all other chicken, beef options, I chose the fish one which was a mix of grilled fish including salmon, tuna, prawn, with some broccoli, caulifower on the side. The flavour was good however the fillets were a bit dry. Compared to the chicken and steak lunch, I would probably not going to pick this fish main course again.

Chocolate Mousse Cake

The very dense cake has been prepared prior and brought to us after we finished our main. The cake was bittersweet using semi-dark chocolate. A great treat during a long business lunch time!

The version at the News Room Diner reminded me of why I hated the dish as a child. Desiccate, flavorless, breast meat chicken on greasy toast with a perfunctorily limp piece of lettuce is about as unaccomplished as one could get away with, especially at $105.

Beyond the chicken, the daily soup (vegetable) tasted canned, the side salad had all the life of a pensioner, and the service was spotty (one fellow diner's dish came nearly 15 minutes after everyone else's). At least the chips were nice - hot, crispy and well seasoned.

If the News Room Diner is out to replicate soulless, race-to-the-bottom American staples, well then; News flash: They've done a fine job of it.

I went there for lunch with friends and the chicken burger was awful for the price! it was tasteless and felt like I was eating at a fast food restaurant. The rest of the side dishes were so ordinary tasting. all my friends thought it was horrible and we left to get dessert elsewhere.

周三小周末,工作過後偕同三位朋友到鰂魚涌 The News Room Diner,打算晚飯前先歇腳喝酒聊天。Happy hour menu 裡的 draught beer 款式不多,而紅白酒都只見大眾級別的選擇。當然,你不應於優惠時段抱有期望,因為沒有期望便沒有失望啊。況且今夜只為聚舊不為品酒。可是店裡環境非常吵雜,以正常聲量交談非常困難,感覺有如到了大排檔或者熟食中心。稍有飢餓感覺,點了一客炸薯皮。店員送來薯皮之時,四人都為這薯皮的份量膛目結舌。幸而,薯肉溫熱,配煙肉粒與蔥粒等 toppings 味道稍算合格。未有試過 The News Room Diner 的晚餐,但相信正常情況下,我不會來(不敢)嘗試。

It seems that food less than $50 in Quarry Bay won’t taste good.Went to News Room which has now become a takeaway joint for chicken Schnitzel and chips but the chicken was dry and there was no cheese in the middle.The fries were a bit salty and they put salt and black pepper in it by default, which ruined it.I would have chosen fish and chips but the fish were already fried and sitting there to be re-fried again.

I have picked the option with the least carbs for main. The 8oz Rib Eye steak was very huge considered it's only part of the lunch set. The steak was pan-seared to perfect medium rare. It was smokey, not too buttery in taste. It's sinful for complain at all when they only charge $188 for the whole set, right?

I really liked the Capuccino they serve here. Not having much expectation from the coffees served in restaurants, it was silky and aromatic with a nice, creamy foam on top. 

Free lunches always cheer people up, not to mention when the food is actually well-prepared!

今天鬼仔話請食飯,也太開心吧!因為甜宝宝己2歲多,可以明天上學去!所以他應該感到兒子長大了,也太高興吧!所以我們一家四口高高興興去 the news room dinner到了七時,己很多人!原來大部份也跑來Happy hour, 晚餐6百元2位,我們4人点了4個餐!環境裝修也很西化,可以說是酒吧餐廳吧!三文魚沙津比較簡單,三文魚厚厚一片,没太大驚喜!青豆湯顏色濃濃的但也太淡而無味!嫲嫲和鬼仔點了牛扒,他們要的都是三成熟,牛扒份量很大,但太多肥肉,嫲嫲切掉了四分三,祇剩下四分一可吃,也太失望吧!這時侯後面來了一枱十人,聲音大如雄鍾,說着難聽不咸不淡的英語,真的吵到全餐廳都不能說話,連我們旁邊八個外國人也靜下來!我要的主菜鱸魚剛捧上,口感一般,但薯仔千層的配答不錯!妹妹叫的意大利飯做得很棒,挑口的妹妹讚不絕口!我點了一杯暖暖的綠茶,茶味香濃,妹妹又恐嚇我說今晚又怕要失眠吧!全晚我最欣賞反而是朱古力慕斯蛋糕,朱古力味香濃,慕斯在口中融化,感覺也太正吧!但最令人難受是整晚的嘈音比飲茶更吵,這真是我們意料之外的,所以我們坐了一小時就立即離開了!

嫲嫲和鬼仔點了牛扒,他們要的都是三成熟,牛扒份量很大,但太多肥肉,嫲嫲切掉了四分三,祇剩下四分一可吃,也太失望吧!
這時侯後面來了一枱十人,聲音大如雄鍾,說着難聽不咸不淡的英語,真的吵到全餐廳都不能說話,連我們旁邊八個外國人也靜下來!

全晚我最欣賞反而是朱古力慕斯蛋糕,朱古力味香濃,慕斯在口中融化,感覺也太正吧!
但最令人難受是整晚的嘈音比飲茶更吵,這真是我們意料之外的,所以我們坐了一小時就立即離開了!

周六中午,與好友相約來到這家鰂魚涌的美食餐廳,News room,一聽這個名字就覺得特別適合當記者的我們!到時已經1點,店裡沒什麼人,服務員非常熱情地迎接我們坐下。店內環境偏暗,壁紙畫風奔放,是個小聚的好地方。我們點了一個沙拉,有生菜,牛油果,雞蛋,番茄和雞胸肉,加了blue cheese,味道卻並不濃郁,搭配之後入口舒適。緊接著送上和牛漢堡,漢堡的個頭不大,但內容豐富,牛肉和培根一起咬下,感覺嘴裡充滿肉香,肉質很嫩,最愛其中的芝士!!!最後一道菜是燒排骨,同樣驚艷!而且看起來就非常誘人,吃起來不會很鹹,也不會太甜,正合口味。三道菜分別價格98/148/188,兩個女生吃分量正好。多謝好友推薦!
