Lupa is Mario Batali’s venture in Hong Kong. You might be familiar with him if you watch Iron Chef. They have a wide range of pizza, pasta and main to choose from, price ranges in HKD 200-350. They also offer an extensive wine collection.LUPA salad We shared a LUPA salad - Mixed Green Salad with Citrus, Parmigiano and Balsamic Vinegar (HKD 138) Hard to comment on a salad, it was fresh and portion was quite generous.Tonnarelli AI Granchio ...

Wandering around Central one evening we heard some pumping beats coming from somewhere overhead. A closer inspection skywards revealed a small yellow sign above Theatre Lane, announcing the location of Lupa by Mario Batali. As soon as FMUS saw the sign he knew we had to try it out. We had previously dined at Eataly, one of Batali's many NYC establishments while on our Manhattan odyssey, and were keen to try out another of his ventures. Everyone knows the myth sur...

Came here for a mid-week lunch. Booking is a must as it gets quite full. Ordered the salad and dessert buffet plus a pasta to share with my partner.  chopstick Salad Buffet A great variety of both meat and vegetarian dishes. The hot soup (two types) was a great addition too. Everything was fresh and tasty (except for the octopus salad). My favourite of the day was the croquette - served warm with nice potato and ham fillings - made me go for a second one!chopstick H...

Nice place, prime location but quality of food can fluctuate. This restaurant has caught my attention quite some time ago but only now have I dared to brave the mixed reviews and sample what Lupa has to offer at lunch time. Decor and Ambience Depending on where you sit, the ambience and the dining experience can vary quite a bit. Upon being greeted at the concierge, you are escorted along a corridor, with half-circle sofa tables on your left. If your seat is not one of those, the...

The Sunday brunch offered at about $400 each is quite a bargain, considering the food quality, the location and the ambience. With $200 more you get free-flow wine and the likes. Although for someone like me who is looking for authentic, decent pasta and pizza might be slightly disappointed. Some snapshots of the buffet table.  I have no complaints about the range of food choices and the quality. Seafood was fresh and of decent quality for semi-buffet. The Italian specialities na...

A friend wanted to take the two of us out, returning a favor, and we decided to try out Lupa. We made a tablemap reservation a few days in advance, for a Sunday night, but would probably not have needed it as the restaurant was almost completely empty when we arrived and did not fill up while we were there. In addition to our table, there were only two or three more occupied. Before settling on what we’d eat, the waitress asked about our drinks selection; as we wanted wine, we were no...

We came for the lunch buffet. The lighting is great for any occasion although it makes reading the menu slightly difficult, you'll find that it's bright enough for everything else. I was wowed by the decor and ambience; it's a very nice area and it's well complimented by the 5-star service. I found watching the waiters go around the restaurant with an iron to iron the table cloths very amusing, and it's one of the quirks that Lupa has to offer. The buffet food was alright, I pers...

I've been wanting to try Lupa ever since it opened because I love Mario Batali's Babbo in NYC. I was looking forward to trying his pastas again, so when I saw that Lupa was one of the participating restaurants for Restaurant Week, I made a booking right away.  I came here on a Thursday night and we were seated right away in the main dining room. The dining room is pretty big and spacious, and the lighting and decor was dark and dim. It wasn't that full either. They al...

As part of my on-going restaurant week "adventures" trying out restaurants i have not been to before, I had dinner at Lupa last night. I arrived before my dinner companion, and the waitress at the reception was quick to show me to my table. My first impression of the restaurant was that it had a nice, lively ambience, with the music playing a little too loud (but not to the point that it bothered me too much). The interior of the restaurant reminded me of another restaurant I had be...

Went to Lupa yesterday. Over the last year, I have actually been a fan of Lupa, defending its bad rep on blogs and among my friends and acquaintances who have bad-mouthed it. Yes, the fish and meat dishes were poorly prepared, but the salumi, cheeses, and pastas were tasty and diverse, with some well-thought out dishes. No more. I may never go back. My wife and I went for lunch yesterday only to find that you could no longer order a la carte on Sundays. You are stuck with a hide...
