It was crowded and the seating is cramped but the food is very good.   I had the brisket noodle soup and the curry brisket noodle soup.  The brisket was very tender and the broth of both soups were great.  The curry could be a bit spicier, however, there is hot sauce on the table to adjust to your liking. The portions are moderate and 2 bowls are common. Both were excellent with lots of flavor.  Great value too.  Try to go when they first open or you will be waiting a while.

My wife and I learnt about this place from the magazine during our flight to Hong Kong. Based on the reviews and the restaurant rating, we decided to give it a try with high expectation. Their operation was very efficient. The patrons were seated systematically with seats packed around small tables.  We shared a table with strangers - a couple came from Korea, and another couple from China.  We had little time to read the menu before ordering. My wife and I ordered beef briske...

I know that Kau Kee is in all the tourist guides and places to go as evidenced by the long lines at peak hours, but it's still one of my favorites. Definitely a place I take visitors when they come to Hong Kong. My favorite thing to get is the beef brisket soup noodle with e-mein. The brisket is tender enough without being chewy. The noodles are soft, and absorb the flavor of the soup very well. For beef you also have options for different types of beef or even a beef brisket in ...

I'm about to lose whatever credibility I probably never had in the first place, but here goes: I wasn't a fan. It wasn't like the food was bad. It just didn't strike any of my personal fancies. First of all, there's a line. I think we waited maybe 40 minutes beginning at 12:45 on a Saturday, so not really as bad as it could have been. The line feels like it's moving at a decent pace. Once you're seated, the pace is fast, but no one was sour or curt, and I didn't feel pre...

The anticipation had been building for days to try this place with the much vaunted reputation as the "BEST" beef brisket/Nau Lam noodle in HK for over 20 years. Our group of 5 arrived especially early for lunch- we got 2nd in the queue. Within 30 minutes the queue had grown to 40 deep and growing!! When the staff came to open up lets say they werent too friendly with tourists asking them questions. When the doors opened, its all go go go with a well orchestrated ...

We came here on a quiet Thursday afternoon and found the place quite busy.  This was our first good sign.  The next good sign is that they basically do two dishes, with different options for noodles. After being seated, we ordered a bowl of the brisket noodles and a bowl of the curry tendon noodles.  For both we opted for the e-fu noodles.  When I ordered my curry, the owner said 'it is tendon, you like tendon?'.  Very kind of him to double check, but I confirmed that I do...

Kau Kee is a really famous joint for beef brisket so expect long queues. Usually beef brisket is paired with flat rice noodles, thin yellow noodles and other options but here it is popularly paired with E-fu noodles and it tastes so good that they serve plain E-fu noodles in soup too.   ★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★ Restaurant photo:There is an English menu at the front of the shop window for people who can't read Chinese. ★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆...

THIS WOULD BE IT. Kau Kee is generally known to be one of the best Chinese, local noodle shops in Hong Kong and has been widely reviewed. I am adding mine simply because this continues to be one of my favourite dining spots throughout all these years. This is one of the restaurants I would recommend for any beef-eating visitor to Hong Kong and a quintessential Hong Kong noodle eating experience. What makes it special after all these years, is that it is one of...

My friend introduced me here on a stormy Saturday evening. I decided to try the signature dish, Curry Beef Brisket noodles.I loved it. It was the unique combination of curry, beef brisket and noodles that was brilliant. However, the curry was a bit too strong, especially when you're finishing up. The beef brisket was tender but a bit too fatty for me. The noodles are just as you would expect from a noodle shop. My friend ordered a regular Beef Brisket noodles, which also looked ...
