Have tried various french style and store-bough rotisserie chicken around Central so thought I'd give this a go, and it was by far the best chicken I have had. The skin was perfectly flavoured and not too oily while the meat from the chicken breast and wing fell from the bone clean with a gentlest tug, yet the texture was not mushy and still had its "bounce". The fries were also really great, thick cut but crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. This will become my go-to chicken place from now on and I truly hope the quality stays consistent / wasn't just lucky this time.  continue reading

continue reading

As I know Piri Piri is a kind of spicy chili roots from Africa, it is sometimes known as African bird’s eye chili. It is usually used in making spicy chicken dishes, and this idea arrives here at Flaming Frango. Set at the Soho district on Staunton Street, Flaming Frango is famous for their house blend Piri Piri marinade, featuring a wide selection of signature chicken dishes including portion-wise roasted chicken, burgers and Mediterranean wraps. Starting with a few finger-licking side dishes, the Piri Piri chicken wings are meaty and juicy, whereas the portobello mushroom strips impress impeccably for its crispy skin and the spicy pirioli dip. The quarter of chicken leg and thigh is marinated in their famous hot sauce for 24 hours, flame-grilled and is served with options of mint & coriander sauce. Another popular order will be the signature chicken burger with a grilled portobello mushroom, halloumi cheese, sweet caramelized onion and thick-cut piri piri fries. We also tried a non-chicken dish, prawn fajitas with flour tortilla, creamy guacamole, refreshing tomato salsa and additional sour cream on top. It is amazing. For drinks, we have a lovely Lychee & Lemongrass Colada and a strong Espresso Martini, both have been beautifully presented to us. continue reading

You can always discover some unique cuisines in soho, as there are different types of restaurants locate there, especially some classy or delicate western food. I thought there isn’t much seats at this restaurant, turns out there is a second floor as well. The wall is decorated with some graffiti with some local elements, such as using the street names in . The atmosphere is quite nice here, yet you will feel a bit hot during summer. The dinner started with an appetizer, Chicken & Mushroom Croquettes. Simply mixed the minced chicken and diced mushroom together and then form it into a ball shape. Next, dipped the balls into the batter and bread crumbs and deep fried them. It is a rather simple starter, however the taste is remarkable and delightful. You may eat it with Mint & Coriander or the mild spicy of pirioli.  After that Portobello Mushroom Strips has been served to the table, this is a meatless dish that is vegan friendly. The sliced Portobello is crispy on the surface and juicy within, which can totally delight the vegetarians. The deep fried Portobello is a bit oily, hence I suggest eating it with the mild spicy pirioli to lighten the oily flavor.Halloumi Cheese Sticks is absolutely amazing, the pan-fried goat cheese topped with a glove of orange and half of a cherry tomato. The sheep’s milk flavor and the sweetness are in well balance, also that hint of sour vinegar can definitely neutralized the heaviness. Nevertheless it would be too much to finish four pieces on your own (That’s why don’t be selfish! Lol). All the dishes are generally made with chicken, so is this Classic Chicken Frango Burger. The slightly toasted burger buns are filled with a thick piece of chicken fillet, a sliced pineapple, tomato and lettuce. The sweet and sour pineapple can freshen up the whole burger, you won’t feel too heavy or  guilty about eating this burger. Yet, I think the chicken fillet is not juicy enough. Finally, the signature dish for this restaurant, Piri Piri Chicken has arrived the table!!! It makes use of various spicy and strong spices and sprinkle all around the chicken, next flame grilled the whole marinated chicken. I chose the chicken drumsticks and breast combination with mild spicy, yet I would recommend medium spicy for a bit more exciting flavor. It is not a boneless chicken, but there are still huge pieces of meat along with the bones. Just that it would be better if the grilled chicken is more tender and juicy though.  continue reading
