This is Mandarin Oriental's most down-to-earth restaurant with the ultimate comfort foods, making it one of my preferred choices for lunch take-aways on busy days. But there are many dishes I like that are best consumed on the premise. Since today is a public holiday and I wasn't expecting to work in the office for too long, I came here for a proper meal. The last time I sat in was before attending a violin concert at the Concert Hall about a month ago. I came mostly because...

The goal was to hit up the grill room for breakfast, after seeing a ridiculous looking video clip uploaded to the WOM guide where they served a tableside ham and eggs (upscaled via Iberico ham and perhaps duck eggs, over some delicious looking salad). Unfortunately they were closed, so the only other choice for hot food was Cafe Causette. The experience overall was quite pleasant. Not busy at all but there was still a moderate wait of about 5 minutes. We were lead to a table fur...

The afternoon tea is served from 3-6pm and costs 278 per person, including coffee or tea (unfortunately they had run out of dragonwell tea, but the Japanese sencha was nice too). We decided to order one to share and that was plenty (given that we both had lunch that day).I started with the scones – there was one raisin and one classic scone in the box, both were warm and freshly baked. The texture was great, ideal to pull apart and add cream and jam to it. I always add cream at the...

2nd day in Hong Kong during a recent trip and we originally wanted the high end tableside cooked "Iberico bacon and duck eggs" at the Bar & Grill. Unfortunately we didn't realize they were closed on weekends. So Cafe Causette was open luckily, and we decided to give them a try. We were promptly seated after waiting a little close to 5 minutes, and were brought to a table in the back. The cafe was not busy, although it was nice of them to seat us further back where it was a bi...

Review: A non-traditional Thanksgiving meal with my girls - thanks Yuls for picking the restaurant! Thanksgiving isn't huge here in Hong Kong, but a lot of restaurants do have Thanksgiving-themed dinners during that week. Cafe Causette offered a buffet style multi-course meal, served tableside. You can order refills for any dish, which they will bring to your table. We started with warm cheesy bread with pesto dipping sauce. The appetizers arrived promptly. T...

This limited time only Chloé crossover Mandarin Oriental afternoon tea to me was a reminiscence of the Prêt-à-Portea afternoon tea at The Berkeley's in London.  The price here definitely beats the latter though. At only $278 for one or $488 for two, the MO crossover tea set is quite reasonably price I would say, although no, there is no complimentary gift from Chloé as it was marketed, or at least not free unless you make a purchase at the store first...! ...

I have been here quite a few times. It's a very comfortable place with attentive staff. Environment & Service (8/10) The view is of Prince’s Building across the street, nothing too special. The larger tables are very comfortable to sit at, but the smaller tables (for 2 people, if the larger tables are filled) are a bit small. Overall, it’s quite a comfortable restaurant. The staff are very attentive and well mannered. I once found a hair on a piece of cake, a...

The Le French Gourmay menu I tried was so good I've decided to come back again. I am surprised that the last review Cafe Causette review was written by me - which makes me look like a regular there - not true. Anyways - I went there on a Fri evening after work with my colleagues. I was surprised that the changed their menu slightly as most other restaurants use the same french may menu for the whole month. This time we ordered more starters due to the summer heat. This sa...

I went there with a friend for dinner. He wanted to try their hainan chicken rice. Turned out they were having a special French may promo so we had the new dishes instead.  We had the chicken with red wine sauce. it was so tender and juicy. flavorful too! I ordered the sea bass which was wrapped in a baking paper (nicely wrapped it looked like a dumpling!) when I opened the bag it smelt so good. My table was filled with smoky herbal fragrant. It was cooked perfectly. Tender and ...

Sooooo…I am finally employed which means I feel much better about splurging on fancy restaurants lol Not that this has stopped me before…haha. Anyhow, me and my friends had dinner plans and since one of them’s a fancy lawyer who works in Central ;) I suggested eating there just in case she gets off work late. I did a quick search and came across Café Causette which is the café inside Mandarin Oriental. The menu was surprisingly not as pricey as I thought, so I decided to giv...
