朋友訂了位來試一試這裡的午餐, 沿著LKF一路上來便可。頭盆是自助形式的沙律吧,選擇不少,但多數都是冷盤, 沙律菜應該有的也有, 還有任食的param ham, 吃完還會refill的, 味道也不錯。主菜我點了一客新奇cross-over的咖哩泡菜餃子, 感覺很特別, 咖哩的味道有點像印度的口味, 辣辣的, 不是一般可食到的味道, 反之不太像吃得出泡菜的味道。餃子炸得脆脆的, 點著咖哩食竟然有種說不出的合拍, 很值得一試!朋友點的Pasta相反卻比較普通。甜品是自家制的雪糕, 剛好可清一清味蕾, 回到公司再努力工作。

A little backgrounder: It was LKF Dining Week last week in which participating restaurants were offering lunch set specials for HK$159 per person all week. I was at Souvla and PEZ HKC on Wednesday and Thursday prior to COMFORT where I had great value, delicious meals. So my expectations were set high. Moreover, I was looking forward to COMFORT the most because it was my first time to try Goldstein fare, whose reputation precedes it.

Here's where the horror begins. This dish came first, wayy before the burgers did. So when I started eating it it already got cold. And what did it matter when it was bad regardless of the temperature? Overly salty, the sauce was saved by nice bits of meat, including Tiger Prawns (3 big pieces), and Pancetta.  The pasta was terrible - like an udon experimental fusion with Italian sauce but gone wrong. It was too heavy and didn't go well with the sauce at all.

The server told us it was a CHERRY sorbet and we got this. We didn't know what it was - lemon, passionfruit, mango?? Whatever it was, it was horrible. Like ice shavings that got artificial flavouring poured onto it. It was so bad two of us asked to change to the ice cream halfway through.

Would we return? Never.

貝殼粉也不遜色,汁沒有太多,但沒因而太乾,配上蔬菜和海鮮,清新但飽肚。

泰色紅咖喱雞配薄餅,雖然夠辣,但卻沒有正式泰國咖喱的那種香。

Love hanging out with my gals coz they don't mind go new restaurants to have some adventures. This time, Harlan's comfort.We order different cocktails for each of us. The nitrogen tiramisu is absolutely interesting and we did play around it quite a while! The smoke, the crumbs, and seeing it melt. Yes, we are just too exciting having fun with it!

A Selection of Healthy Salads ---- 普通常見的羅馬生菜大大片亦爽囗新鮮,咬入囗是嗦嗦有聲的;較少見的選擇則有將薯仔塊弄得極爽的德國式薯仔沙律。說老實話質感不是太"粉"的薯仔自己吃落始終是未太習慣。相反那些開邊的小蕃茄是相當的甜美多汁,配上同樣味相對上清淡的feta cheese可說是深慶得人;另一道smoky eggplant的味道是甚創新特別,磨成跡近茸的茄子口感細軟滑溜,調味方面是出奇地heavy的,雖說是"smoky"但個人認為煙燻味是不覺太重,取而代之的是頗濃厚的辣香及鹹惹。拿起一塊中東式pita bread伴而食之,確是不俗的配搭;至於凍肉方面有好幾款的salami及巴馬火腿。純以Harlan的名氣再加上$198連主菜及甜食飲料的午餐價來說,實可用抵食去形容....況且那巴馬火腿的品質也是不差的,入囗帶脂香而不死鹹....

從值吃的角度來說,叫半自助套餐一定是最化算的。但今次我來的目標是要嚐一下這裡的好幾道招牌嘢....所以小弟便集中火力研究a la carte餐牌,看看有沒有收穫....

記起前數天在愉景灣內的西班牙餐廳也吃過相類似的頭盤,水準也是有的....但想不到Harlan's做出來的是比西班牙餐廳弄出來的更為西班牙 ---- 醬汁除了有豐厚的茄香及醒胃的酸度以外還充滿著莞莤香氣及黑椒帶來的辣香。從惹味的角度來看似乎是更勝一籌;肉丸的質地是頗為實淨的咬落蠻有肉香。不過以小弟的個人意見認為,用上了一個如此濃厚的醬料去處理這份肉丸的話,若是硬去用所謂的靚料 (甚麼來自西班牙的火腿及肉)去搓這丸子就真的是暴殄天物了....

再來的,便是一味台式的刈包,Mr. Goldstein就簡單稱之為"Bao Bao"...

這可是店內小吃的名物之一,亦是我為此而來的其一原因。包本身是十二分的軟綿易入囗且略帶微甜。一向熱愛吃包的小友自然就是嘴不停;夾層的那塊豬腩肉個人就略嫌太薄身少了咬頭,但肉本身的質素是好得沒話說,望上去是肥瘦相間而又均稱,脂肪部位燒得滿帶有焦香脆脆的十分惹味,論豐腴程度亦是有數的高;其餘的配菜如紅蘿蔔絲、洋蔥及酸瓜等都是用以消去pork belly之膩滯的,就連醬汁本身亦是帶微酸,這樣吃起來自然一些也不覺"漏"....值得一提的是另外附加的一小碗醬料,好在只是嚐了一點點,不然便儘會辣到跳舞了.....

Set lunch的主食看上去也很對勁,一道Bacon wrapped pork loin with cinnamon apple, onion jam and melted taieggio cheese,豬柳弄至七至八分熟,肉中心顏色仍帶微微嫣紅,咬入囗是相當的柔軟而帶點點爽彈富肉汁,肉味之香濃也是不在話下,火喉控制得十分到位;Side dish方面有的是肉桂味濃郁,質地粉粉的蘋果片,味道酸咪咪的同樣是用以消去肉之肥膩。相同之理論亦可應用於那甜而杰撻撻黏黏的洋蔥絲"jam"醬內。至於後舖上至豬柳面的taieggio cheese,感覺稀稀的反而未覺有太濃烈的芝香,小弟倒覺得這層芝士是可有可無的;另外包著豬柳的那一大片煙肉,吃時一點也不覺肥膩,感覺良好.....

咖喱汁濃而杰身,味道調得偏甜也為個人所好;加入了不少花生粒碎的它是增添了咬囗之外又充滿香料之惹香。辣度方面是並不霸道的調得甚有分寸;牛腩件件是揀手之選沒有吃到一口是渣,至於牛筋就更是黏而帶啜囗充滿骨膠原....

至於那一小堆伴碟的醃蘿蔔,小弟倒是覺鹹多於酸起不了醒胃的作用;醃菜旁的是一小撮的森巴醬,味道辣與香兼而有之,配上咖喱及飯來食又是另一番風味來....

甜品的配搭也是挺花過心思的,奶凍配上乳酪是自己平常較少吃的組合,加上黑芝麻醬就更是頗創新之舉。奶凍很夠滑不過沒很香奶味;黑芝麻醬反而有著蠻粗的texture且有濃郁芝麻氣味,老實說是比奶凍還要出色....

A marvelous dish with oil bursting and nicely marbled wagyu bresaola, crumbled gorgonzola, walnut and honey. I particularly love how they use honey on the wagyu bresaola and made it like a sweet treat.

Slow Cook Spanish Duroc Ribs – $328
The ribs, oh the ribs were sooooooo good! You can't be lady on this one, just use your hand to tear off the ribs off the bone! The ribs was evilly smoky and charred with an oil glaze. It carried the perfect balance of fat and meat which gave a great juicy and tender texture on every bite, and not to forget the slightly crispy charred surface. There are also some chewy soft bones attached on the bones! My favourite of the night.

Great chicken dish that urged me to savour two big chunks apart from all the food I had tonight. The chicken was tender and moist for both the breast and leg parts, the skin was also made very crispy. Yum!

慕名而來, Harlan品牌, 我雖知不是去到IFC那級數, 但也不是樓上酒吧, 在舊唐樓(有lift), 但很真的很舊,店內又黑又細樓底很低. 總之唔comfortable 那種. (同個名剛相反). 講番食物, 好彩都是有Harlan 品牌的水準. Roasted Yellow Chicken 398 – 皮脆, 肉juicy, 但就咸了點. 算有水準. Slow cooked Spanish Pork Ribs 328 – 比Chicken 更值得推介, 燒到離哂骨, 肉夠香夠腍. Salmon tartar – 外表分十足, salmon同caviar夠多, 但用料一般, 好能sauce 太多了, 吃不到salmon味, caviar 亦無乜味. 值得讚係用popadom, 比用cracker有心思. 慕名而來, Harlan品牌, 我雖知不是去到IFC那級數, 但也不是樓上酒吧, 在舊唐樓(有lift), 但很真的很舊,店內又黑又細樓底很低. 總之唔comfortable 那種. (同個名剛相反).

I was invited to go to a tasting (remember all my meals are paid for by myself, with friends or family- I rarely go to a tasting and if I do. I will state it…I get a lot of questions about that! HEHE) a few weeks back and much to my surprise busy Mr. Goldstein (who will be expanding his culinary empire, Penthouse and Sushi To later this year) was there to offer us a bunch of his recommended items in his new ‘Comfort’-able dining experience. When you walk into the busy, loud and casual dining eatery- I immediately noticed how busy it was! It was a Wednesday evening but was bursting with people whining, dining, laughing and chatting. A bit different than the more grand, luxe Gold. I was excited to try Comfort. I’ve been calling in myself to try and book…but every time I got a “full booking”….and I see why…it was packed!
The food at Comfort is meant for sharing! The starters are all roughly $80-$100 and the mains go from $150-400, which is very standard & reasonable for LKF. I didn’t post prices! Cause I was invited to a tasting!

Slow-cooked Spanish Duroc Pork Ribs. These were helmed as the BEST ribs in LKF…honestly, I think its the BEST ribs in HONG KONG. PERIOD. They were amazing– the mouthwatering meat just simply falls off the bone! It was perfect. Literally very well seasoned, juicy, tender, sweet, savoury, and meaty. It was a good amount of fat and succulent pork ribs! LOVED THIS….wish I didn’t have to share… ;)

Main: beef brisket curry is a favourite of Harlan’s wife, and comes with a side of rice and pickled veggies | By this point…my stomach was BEYOND bursting. I was at the point of SOOO full. The beef brisket curry was very curry heavy though. But the thick cuts of beef brisket were terrific! Mix in with a little bit of rice…NICE.

Firstly, we ordered the truffled beef tartare, the beef tartare is chopped in a prime beef style and the texture is so moist and tender. Italian flatbread itself has a salty taste which is perfectly goes with the beef tartare.

Secondly, we choose to have somthing spanish, so we ordered the spanish seafood paella. It serves in a slizzing hot clay bowl providing different types of seafood such as clams, king prawns, squids, bomba rice and garlic aioli. Thirdly, the pork ribs are cooked in a process of slow cooked , smoked and grilled ;  As a result, the porb ribs turn out to be so juicy and tender that it's melts so quickly once you have the first bite of it.  Also, it comes with italian vinegar in order to enhance stronger flavour of the meat. In addition, it claims itself to be "the best pork ribs in LKF" on the menu, I believe you deserve to be call this way.

In addtion, this dish is quite an unusual vegeterian dish that they offer. Hallomi Cheese is made from a mixture of goat and sheep cheese, and it melts so easily when it cooks in a pan fried or deep fried method. This time, Harlan chooses to cook hallomi cheese in a pan fried method, it cooked so well that the texture becomes very chewy and soft. In addition, hallomi cheese has a stronger flavour of salitiness itself which compare to other cheese we normally have, it's perfectly match with the mashed Indian spiced spinach which has a pretty light and fresh flavour.

Furthermore, crispy soft crab sandwich is wrapped with chinese buns and served in a dim sum wooden container,the crispy soft crab is crispy and not so oily as I thought however the deep fried powder is rather too thick and too dry. In addiiton, Sriracha Mayo is the sauce that comes with this crispy crab sandwich which is perfectly match because it has a flavour of spicy and  finish off with some asian slaw to reduce the oiliness.

Apple Crumble is one of the common and traditional desserts that many restaurant and cafe offer, it comes in a pot with warm freshly baked apple crumble,  the texture of the crumble is so crispy with caramel in the outside, to balance the sourness of apple. Also, it's perfectly matches with Vanilla ice cream.

This dessert comes in a jar with dark chocolate mousse, the texture is smooth, fluffy and the the flavour itself is quite light and intense. Also, cherries, honeycomb and crispy popcorn are hidden inside the dark chocolate mousse while you are scooping half way, as a result, you can feel the crunchiness of honeycomb and poporn, sweet and sour of cherries that enlighten your sense of taste.

While we are enjoying the dessert, the waiter suddenly put down the bill on our table and this action really make us feel so annoyed because no one tell us that there are two time slots beforehand. This leave us such an unpleasant dinner and I definitely wouldn't consider here as my food option again

餐廳的燈光恰到好處,照得食物很漂亮,連鄰桌的甜品放上煙花慶祝生日也份外動人。炸和牛丸跟慢煮八爪魚先上桌,雖然吃到後來有點膩,但Japanese Wagyu Beef Croquettes脆脆的口感加上肉香四射的和牛確是值得推介,蘸一點燒烤醬或沙律醬可略為減輕油膩感。慢煮八爪魚軟腍不韌,配上蕃茄跟綠辣椒,口味清新。好友說Fisherman’s Soup味道像龍蝦湯,配一小塊蒜茸包。

不少食物都用小砧板跟小鋼煲上桌,小巧精致。牛柳放小砧板上,配燒蒜頭,肉汁豐富肉質軟腍,半熟亦弄得剛好。配菜小椰菜以蜜糖中和苦澀味,小鋼煲上桌造型可愛,味道不錯。自家製意大利麵沒有al dente,配鮮蝦和微辣的蕃茄醬汁,吃到尾聲太油放棄。至此鄰桌四男談笑超大聲,我們除了歌聲還要扯大嗓門蓋過他們才聽到對方說甚麼,喉嚨亦繃緊起來。

我們的甜品選了老好Apple Crumble,,我還耐不住咖啡癮點了一杯,很喜歡把咖啡糖像寶物般盛著的不鏽鋼小盤子。Apple Crumble牛油味香濃,當然要有雲呢拿籽的雪糕再配雲呢拿汁,充滿親切感的味道令我一口接一口。約兩轉客後餐廳便出現空桌,歌聲繼續響亮,咖啡提神後我又提高音量,身向前傾才說得上話。

餐後蘭桂坊的周末夜才剛開始,我和好友卻因為提高聲線說話隔天喉嚨痛,令我趕緊弄老火湯清清熱氣,好友還病上加病去了看醫生,實在誇張。仗著名廚的光環和高消費的客群,這裏應該不愁生意,倒是同樣的價錢選擇實在太多,要是那強大的音樂沒有改善,還是先不再來了。

Pork Belly 表層香脆,肉質鬆化,令人有著入口即溶的輕快感。白白的軟包子,內層髹上小甜的海鮮醬,令我想起中式飲宴的乳豬全體。不過我覺得橙色的辣椒醬才是精髓所在,酸辣的味兒令這個 Bao Bao 的個性活現出來,才不致於活在乳豬件的陰影下!

在當晚同一用餐時段,已有四、五位壽星仔女,在餐廳慶祝生辰,生日蛋糕上如煙花的閃爍火光,不停穿梭於餐桌間,奪目耀眼。

不管食物如何,Harlan Goldstein's Comfort 似乎也成了 A Place for Friends!

午膳時間於Harlan Goldstein's Comfort用膳,或許時間尚早及餐廳地點稍稍隱閉,食客不算太多。店內格局悠閒,感覺都算舒適,只是餐桌密度稍高。午市套餐$198+10%一位,可享用自助沙律吧、主菜、甜品及咖啡茶。沙律吧提供三款火腿腸,尤以薄切風乾火腿食味較吸引,鹹香風味恰到好處,若配上生果吃口味會更見平衡,可惜店方沒有提供。沙律菜同樣有三款,選材新鮮爽甜。伴碟食材也有不少,粟米、鮮茄、洋葱、麵包粒等一應俱全,尤喜愛加上法邊豆,脆口清新。醃製沙律以車厘茄茄子做得較出色,車厘茄酸香甜美,茄子腍中又富口感,沾上酸甜茄汁份外美味。主菜先吃Cacio e Pepe,重點在於醬汁,pecorino sardo芝士香味與黑椒味道同樣突出,味濃帶微辣。配上一小件脆煙肉,份量確是少了一點,但煙肉確是脆口美味。意粉用上較粗身的Bucatini Pasta,口感明顯較實在。成品食味都算不俗。另一主菜Harlan G's Slimming Salmon Steak,主要食材是三文魚扒,肉質略實,不夠細嫩。醬汁以咖哩口味配以smoked bean-curd製成,不太合個人口味。甜品Sicilia
