自從小公主到來, 生活改變許多。行街睇戲的日子少之有少, 但幸好四出覓食的習慣未被改變。今日一大清早便到動植物公園睇動物, 之後沿路走到Soho區的餐廳中挑選午飯的地方。左揀右㨂就決定甫入 Craftsteak 內。周末中午時段的Soho, 冷清清。餐廳只有兩、三枱食客。這間Craftsteak 的裝潢佈置簡潔, 有些歐洲小屋的風情。簡潔中帶點時尚, 特別喜愛窗邊旁的位置, 紅色的仿瓦磚牆加上充滿特色的吊燈, 有些外國情懷。Craftsteak 以open fire cooking 作噱頭。就連menu 的封面都有團火。Open fire cooking 以開放式設計, 沒有任何阻隔, 客人可以看到廚師即席燒烤, 看著紅紅烈火上燒烤確實令人興奮。以為Soho 區消費不便宜, 未知是否周未關係, 午餐價錢比想像中便宜, 2-couse的午餐不過2百元。午餐只有6款選擇, 選擇不太豐富, 但有筆者至愛的牛扒及公主至愛的漢堡薯條已經足夠。甫坐下店員用木板呈上餐包牛油。四個餐包表面漲卜卜又光滑, 單看賣相以為是麵包店剛出爐的麵包。麵包暖身, 質感鬆軟。捨棄片裝鈍牛油, 餐廳自製這個garlic 牛油, 味道比一般的牛油香濃, 令平凡的餐包增添幾分味道。一般餐廳的前菜只有湯或普通沙律供選擇。Craftsteak的前菜有4款選擇, 而且頗有特色。老公點了平凡的 《Pumpkin soup》。質感比較浠身又沒有絲絲的南瓜肉, 不是筆者杯茶。另外, 這個湯味道有些焦燶味, 遠遠蓋過南瓜味。筆者點了破格的 《Grilled caesar》。一般的caesar都是凍食, 但這個生菜沒有切件而是一棵上, 原棵生菜用明火燒烤過, 葉邊都見到燒烤後的痕跡, 非常特別。經燒烤的生菜口感特別脆又乾身, 配上大量的芝士及bluecheese sauce, 實在美味。進食這棵菜需要用刀叉, 如牛扒般切開, 再沾上blue cheese sauce, 食法有新意。生菜上放了兩片厚身的豬腩肉, 有些似中國的五花腩, 脂肪比例較多。經過燒烤的豬腩肉外層塗上蜜糖, 味道惹味而且有入口即溶的口感, 美味無窮。筆者十分欣賞這個前菜。餐廳叫得Craftsteak, 相信牛是這裡的招牌菜。當然兩份主菜都點跟牛有關的菜式。《Steakhouse burger $158》這個漢堡與現時大熱的漢堡不太一樣, 沒有幾寸厚的配料又沒有浮誇的材料。Craftsteak 這個burger 最特出莫過於面上的荷包蛋。這個burger沒有期待中的出色, 牛肉漢堡扒肉味不太濃郁, 而且又有渣又不夠juicy。與荷包蛋在味道上與牛肉漢堡扒產生正面的化學作用。餐廳把burger 分開一半, 其中一半就把一片厚身又燒烤至非常香口的煙肉放在麵包上, 中間塗上乳酪醬。多一個食法, 但驚喜不大。筆者還是喜歡一整個吃漢堡包的食法。《Grain-fed ribeye 10oz $198》 有露筍、炒蛋、煙肉焗豆及法包, 有如一份牛扒版的all day breakfast, 相當豐富。配菜豐富, 主角牛扒都有10oz, 牛扒厚身又大塊, 非常適合大胃王。牛扒的表面比較粗獷, 沒有明顯肉的紋理。切開牛肉呈粉紅, 賣相對辨。肉質軟腍沒有渣, 肉味不是十分濃郁, 但口感十足。旁邊放了些天然海鹽, 沾上可以提升牛扒的香味。旁邊的配菜同樣美味, 筆者對豆類食物興趣不大, 但是這個焗豆令筆者刮目相。焗豆外面濕潤,有層惹味的肉汁包裹著, 又可能加入了帶咸香味肉絲令焗豆的味道倍增。伴上烤法包一起吃, 特別美味。筆者對西式炒蛋不太欣賞, 有時候更有反胃的感覺。淺嘗這個炒蛋, 口感軟滑, 沒有令筆者反胃的形況。露筍又幼又長, 筆者還是喜愛粗身的露筍, 喜歡它的爽口口感。這條街也有不少看似不錯餐廳, 周末的午餐價錢實惠, 旁邊又有不少特色小店, 飯後逛逛街真不錯。 continue reading

I came here during Restaurant Week. I really recommend trying out different restaurants you never tried that week. There are many good deals with the 3- or 4-course menus.Craftsteak has good steak and dessert. Their medium rare steak was cooked just right. They also serve the classic kind of Caesar salad (with the veggie uncut in a big portion), soaked in rich Caesar dressing with abundant amount of cheese. Really good lemon tart as well.I appreciate the staff’s friendliness. Craftsteak is really just an above average western restaurant around the SoHo area. Good but not a must-visit. It is really hard, understandably, to outstand in this vibrant area. Perhaps come try during the next Restaurant Week?  continue reading

昨天剛好拍拖七周年,結婚也接近四年了,昨天特意和太太到她一直想去的Craftsteak慶祝,並早在一個月前預訂。當晚我因有事要遲些到,太太便先行取了位。Craftsteak以明火燒烤作賣點,我倆當然點了每人一客的燒Rib Eye ($388)。之前先有餐包奉上。餐廳自製這個garlic牛油配搭,味道比一般的牛油香濃。跟著,過了不久,燒Rib Eye便奉上。本身可自選多款醬汁,我倆今次揀了松露蛋黃汁 (Béarnaise sauce with Truffle),這款汁較清淡,可突出牛排的原味。牛排上也插了木條,註明了其生熟程度,相當細心。Medium Rare對燒牛排其實最佳,肉味也最鮮。還有配上燒蒜頭及海鹽供調味。我倆揀的配菜(炒蘑菇、菠菜)也很有水準,很香口又有鮮味。餐後揀了一道英式甜品Banoffee Mess,是用拖肥及香蕉製成的布甸,不太甜又帶出很清幽的甜味。吃明火燒烤的扒房,最重要是其味道及誠意,Craftsteak就真的做到了!在這樣的美食下慶祝我倆的紀念日,實在是最好不過了! continue reading
