The Must-try Food Items in the Comeback Lai Yuen

The Lai Yuen Amusement Park is a precious collective memory for many HongKong people. The comeback of the iconic amusement park at the Central Harbor Front starting from June 26 will definitely attract many people because of free entrance fee. Despite the slightly over-priced fee for playing facilities such as feeding fake bananas for a robotic elephant for HKD$10 and a 2-second long Dinosaur Slide worth of HKD$40, the food and beverage actually worth a visit. It has several Cantonese restaurants serving nostalgic food that you won’t want to miss!



The Must-try Molten Toast   Lai Yuen Cafe

今次荔園The new Lai Yuen Amusement Park provides three food and beverage zones. The largest one locates next to Tino, the iconic elephant robot and it’s called the Lai Yuen Café. Customers can purchase tickets for their food and enjoy the meal under a canopy area. The nostalgic beverage is actually supplied by the famous F&B group Tsui Wah. You can find a lot of food and drinks that are used to be common in the 70s and 80s such as instant noodle, iced red bean milk and iced fruit punch for HKD$40 each. It also serves new recipes like the molten toast with an irresistible smell of butter and egg yolk. However, it is not as crispy as the toast found in most cha chaan tengs in Hong Kong. And you’re suggested to seat well and enjoy the toast since the juice inside does spill out quickly.



Restaurant with Nostalgic Theme of Cartoon   Creamy Mami

Another restaurant from the Tsui Wah Group uses the 80s cartoon theme and their initial theme is Creamy Mami, the popular Japanese cartoon character at that time. Meanwhile, the theme will be changed to Captain Tsubasa in August. Fans of Creamy Mami should check out their girlish dessert and take photos in front of the restaurant. The restaurant will change its theme to captain Tsubasa in August. It will provide dishes like pork rice which is more preferable for male.



The Hong Kong Dai Pai Dong

The Hong Kong Dai Pai Dong has a total of 12 snack booths with brands like Tsui Wah, Watson’s and San Miguel alongside with several booths selling nostalgic snacks. Also, frozen dessert is also a good idea for cooling down.



The Real-fruit Capsule Ice-cream  Fruttato

Capsule coffee is not uncommon nowadays, but the concept of capsule ice-cream introduced by Fruattato is quite new. To produce real-fruit sundaes, fruits are initially squeezed and stored in capsules. Then, capsules will be put into the ice-cream machines and transform into soft and fruity sundaes in only needs 10-second to make a real-fruit sundae in many flavors including durian, mango and blueberry. The taiyaki ice-cream (HKD$40) and fresh-fruit popsicle (HKD$25) are also available too!



The nostalgic dessert restaurant   Wo Hing Loong

Many people have tried the watermelon juice served in a real watermelon container in Tsing Yi Bamboo Theatre which is perfect for hot summer. You can also find this drink at Wo Hing Loong inside the amusement park. It costs HKD$60 and HKD$50 for big and small size respectively despite the sizes are not quite distinguishable.
